    i own minecraft java edition and a friend on xbox sent an invite so I could join, once I clicked on the invite I was redirected to the Microsoft store as if saying I didn't already own it, how can this be fixed.

    First, welcome to the Xbox community. I'm sorry you're having this problem.

    This is happening because of the game version, Minecraft java edition can only be played between the following systems, Windows, Mac, and Linux, with that in mind you will not be able to play with your friend who is on Xbox as it is a different version of the game, which makes cross-platform between you two impossible.
