Minecraft Java Multiplayer still blocked despite changing xbox settings

Downloaded Minecraft: Java Edition yesterday on my Windows 10 laptop and wanted to play in a realm with my friends today. When I opened it initially it said Multiplayer and Minecraft Realms aren't available and that I needed to change my Microsoft settings. So I tried changing my xbox privacy settings and clicked allow on all of the "Xbox and Windows 10 Device Safety" settings which included the allow multiplayer setting and then tried logging in and out of the Minecraft launcher with my Microsoft account and it still doesn't work. I've done this probably about 4 times now and fyi I think I am in a Microsoft Family as the xbox privacy setting has the description "The gamerpics below show the people in your Xbox family. To change someone’s privacy and online safety settings, select their gamerpic, then make changes, then press Save." My account is an over 18 account, and no one else is in my supposed Microsoft family.

    :)

    Minecraft doesnt allow mutiplayer.

Hi. My name is Brilliant, an independent advisor. I am happy to assist you today.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with multiplayer on Minecraft Java Edition. It is possible to enable multiplayer on Minecraft Java Edition. Here are some steps you can follow:
    1. Launch any web browser and open the official Microsoft website.
    2. Log in to the account that has been used to purchase Minecraft Java Edition.
    3. Click on your name displayed in the top right corner and click on “My Microsoft account”.
    4. Access the privacy settings for Xbox and toggle the Allow/Block option to enable multiplayer in games.

    I hope this helps.

Please note this is an Xbox Community Forum. We will most likely assist you based on the Xbox point of view. If you require assistance strictly Minecraft, then it would be best to contact Minecraft support.

My account is underaged and I am unable to change the age.

Hi Freddie, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

If you're still a minor you will not be able to change it. You need to ask an adult to add you as a member via https://account.microsoft.com/family and once you're added as a member, the adult account will be needing to sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings to manage your settings so you can play Minecraft Java Multiplayer.

Multiplayer in Minecraft Java for pc.

    Hello Kids Dad,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I can see that you're having trouble with Minecraft Java multiplayer. Just to clarify, Minecraft Java and Minecraft Bedrock are two different versions of the game, and they have different multiplayer options.

For Minecraft Java, you can play multiplayer by either joining a server or creating your own server. To join a server, you'll need to know the server's IP address and port number. To create your own server, you can use software like Minecraft Server.

If you're trying to play Minecraft Bedrock multiplayer, you'll need to make sure that your child has an Xbox Live account and that their account is set up for online multiplayer. You can check this by going to the Xbox website and signing in with your child's account. From there, go to the "Privacy & online safety" section and make sure that "Join multiplayer games" is set to "Allow".

If you've already done this and your child still can't play multiplayer, it's possible that there may be an issue with your network settings or firewall. You may want to try resetting your router or contacting your internet service provider for assistance.

We're looking forward to hearing from you. If there are any inquiries about our description or if there are any misconceptions, do reply to the post.

Minecraft: Java Edition not being available to be even though I already had Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, why?

Hello Mr B, My name is Khaji I am the independent advisor and I will be happy to help you today.

I understand your confusion and frustration regarding the multiplayer access in Minecraft: Bedrock edition and Minecraft: Java edition. Let's clarify the situation:

Minecraft: Bedrock edition and Minecraft: Java edition have different multiplayer requirements:

Minecraft: Bedrock edition (the version available on Xbox) typically requires an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to access multiplayer features. Xbox Live Gold provides online multiplayer functionality for Xbox games, including Minecraft: Bedrock edition.

Minecraft: Java edition, on the other hand, does not require an Xbox Live Gold subscription or any specific subscription to play multiplayer. Minecraft: Java edition has its own multiplayer system that operates independently of Xbox Live.

Regarding your previous ability to play Minecraft: Java edition multiplayer without a subscription, it's possible that during the period when you had the Ultimate Game Pass, it provided access to Minecraft: Java edition's multiplayer features as a part of its benefits. However, once your Ultimate Game Pass subscription ended, you no longer had access to Minecraft: Java edition multiplayer unless you have an active subscription or purchase the game separately.

It's important to note that subscription requirements and benefits can change over time, and specific promotions or offers may have been available during certain periods.

If you have any further questions or need assistance with your Xbox subscriptions, keep me posted please.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! If you need anything else, do not hesitate to contact us again
