With this offer, you'll get a Minecraft Java and a Minecraft Windows version. I'm not 100% sure but I think you would need the same version on both your son's account for them to play on the same world. Java Edition can't connect to Windows 10 servers and Windows 10 can't connect to Java Edition servers.

I bought the Java Edition and migrated it to the Windows 10 Edition, does this not give me a free version of Windows 10 Edition Minecraft, I have to re-buy it?
