Minecraft Java Edition Assistance

Hello, I bought a Minecraft account back when it was still Mojang accounts. The account is linked to my parent's email address, and I used to be able to play just fine. I recently migrated my account, in hopes to reinstall it, but upon trying to reinstall it, I get the error "Minecraft Launcher is currently not available in your account. Make sure you are signed in to the Store and try again. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001" I have watched multiple videos trying to solve this, but nothing has worked. When I go into the Microsoft Store, it prompts me to re-purchase Minecraft, and at the moment I don't have money for that. I would really like to be able to play again

Go to Minecraft.net and download the Windows 7/8 launcher. That should work.

It appears the Windows 10 launcher is bugged.

I understand your concern. However, Minecraft Bedrock Edition and Minecraft Java Edition are two separate games and require separate purchases. Unfortunately, there is no way to redeem Minecraft Java Edition without purchasing it separately. If you would like to play Minecraft Java Edition, you will need to purchase it from the official Minecraft website.

I bought the Windows 10 version of Minecraft by mistake, but the one I wanted was the java edition.

I saw that anyone who buys minecraft java edition is entitled to minecraft Windows 10. Is the reverse also true? Who buys minecraft windows 10 is entitled to minecraft java edition?

If so, how do I access the java edition version at no additional cost?

Hello mimim2,

The Minecraft launcher you are referring to is only for the Java edition of Minecraft. The Java edition and Windows 10, are two separate games. In order to launch and play Minecraft from the launcher you are using in the last image, you must buy the Java
edition from the site, not the Windows 10 version. Minecraft Java Edition | Minecraft. Annoying I know, but when Microsoft acquired Minecraft they released
their own version of the game on their platform. Hope this helps

Minecraft has two main editions: Java and Bedrock. They have some differences in graphics, content, mods and cross-play. You can learn more about them here Minecraft Java or Bedrock Edition | Minecraft.

To use Minecraft Java and Bedrock, install Minecraft Launcher from MS store or Minecraft website. Then on the launcher, install Java package/update and do the same with bedrock edition.

If you still can’t access the Java edition, you may need to reach out to Mojang support for further assistance.
