Minecraft is the only game owned by Microsoft that isn't on Gamepass for PC

unfortunately it is right, only limited games are in the play anywhere program meaning most games need to be purchased for each platform you play on, don't forget you don't own the game only a licence to play said game, has always been like this.

a lot of the games on xbox console are not even available on the microsoft store for pc and would have to be purchased from Steam, Gog, EA and ubisoft and many others.

getting gamepass pc will allow your child to play the games that are in the gamepass on pc, including minecraft.

Try downloading Minecraft Launcher on ONLY MICROSOFT STORE on your friend's or family member windows desktop/laptop using your account. 2nd Sign in the account that you own the gamepass to the minecraft java. The game will verify that you own the gamepass then you're processed when it says "play with gamepass" than the demo version. Final step is to download minecraft launcher on your MacOS from minecraft(dot)net/download then download the MacOS version and after downloaded you sign in with gamepass account then you're done.

I'm saying to download from MS store on your friend's or family's windows pc is because the MS store version will actually validate your gamepass than the minecraft.net version. After you've validate on your windows you can go to your Mac and download from minecraft.net/download for macOS then sign in the account that you own the gamepass.

Well cloud gaming isn't on gamepass for pc

That's only for xbox gamepass ultimate though we dunno going forward with the new.Ubisoft xcloud

It is saying that I cannot play the game because I don't have Gamepass, even though I shouldn't need gamepass to play it since I already owned the game and have owned it for 2 years without problems. Minecraft is the only game I'm experiencing this problem with.

ubisoft owns the rights to activision games via cloud streaming services only meaning ubisoft only controls the licences for all games on cloud outside of the EU, Microsoft owns all rights to all games on console and pc, they can do whatever they want with them, you need to start reading properly. hence why all cod games will be coming to gamepass in march or april for console and pc.
