    Minecraft iOS unable to connect to world


    I have two children, and it’s driving us crazy that we can’t get either of them able to join the world owned by the other. Each have added the other as a friend, and can see the world the other is in under joinable friends. But when either tries to join,
    they get the message “unable to connect to world”.

    They both have up to date ios on ipad running Minecraft v1.16.201 and they are both playing on the same wi-fi network.

    The app was paid for on one of the kids ipads, logged in with their icloud account, but the app was then available on other icloud accounts in the family using the apple icloud family sharing, this is something the minecraft app said it was compatible with.

    I have a microsoft account, and I’ve created child accounts in family section. I was using the website to set permissions, but switched to xbox family app on ios after learning about it.

    I have resorted to making the kids accounts both unrestricted within the xbox family app to remove any settings under the restrictions as the issue. Prior to that i was confident I had enabled all of the settings minecraft say were neccessary.

    Both their worlds are created with the multiplayer and visible on lan settings enabled, and friends of friends set.

    They’ve tried selecting each other from joinable friends, and they’ve tried by sending requests. But joining or accepting results in the same error message.

    background:

    1: the MS accounts were setup, with appropriate permissions set to play minecraft maybe 6 months ago or more. One of the kids was on ipad and one on kindle fire for kids, and they were able to join each other but didn’t really play it. I have checked and
    the error seems to be bappening on that old fire tablet now as well.

    2: since we saw it work we have had the router replaced. It was a like for like replacement, with no settings customised on the old or new one. For anyone familiar, it’s the hub 3 from VirginMedia. If anyone has thoughts about settings to change on this
    that might solve the problem i’d appreciate specific recomendations using this router if you can.

    At this point i can’t think what else to try.

    I can assist you with some things, but if the issue persists you may need to reach Mojang support.

    But first, please answer the following questions :
    Are you trying to join to your friend's server. Right?
    In order to isolate a bit more the issue, can you try joining to a different server to see if the issue persists?

    Are you using the latest iOS and Minecraft update in your device?
    If you try using a different wifi network, the issue persists?
    You, and your friend has all the privacy settings allowed?
    Please double check this with them here:
    https://account.xbox.com/Settings

    In case the problem is happening only with your friend. Can you try removing them from your friends list. Wait 10 minutes and then add them again?
    (Ask them to do the same for you)

    And, tell me what else did you tried so far
    This is to avoid giving you the same troubleshooting steps

    Good morning, I understand this is definitely frustrating, especially when everything seemed to work just fine not too long ago.

    When it comes to your account at least, are you experiencing any trouble logging in to your Microsoft account to play at a very basic level? If so, let me know in your response.

    Otherwise, the problem appears to be with the Minecraft app itself. For this, your best action is to report this problem to Mojang directly, and bring the matter to their support's attention. Here is a link to submitting a ticket on Minecraft's support page, and I recommend searching through their support site for any information that might provide some insight into what may be happening here.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    Kindly try to use a different network to test it out.

    If that still didn't wok kindly try to uninstall and reinstall the game.

    Solution found for my case...link below recommended checking the iOS privacy settings. This was my problem. In the Settings app, click Privacy, Local Network, "Minecraft" app selector on.

    Not sure how, but one of my kid's iPads had this turned off. Seems unlikely this occurred after logging the kids into xbox accounts in the minecraft app, but have no other explanation.
