Minecraft got an update!

Now I realize that a lot of games get updates, but few games are as big and popular as Minecraft, and when it gets an update, people tend to notice. For those that don't, but still love Minecraft, then this thread is for you!

Today's update in Minecraft sees the release of different types of fencing, doors, reverse daylight sensors, a new main menu setup, and other cools things.

For those of you that play and enjoy Minecraft, what's your take with this update?

For me, I'm absolutely overjoyed to have it and have already spent hours redesigning one of my worlds with the new items, but I'm still waiting for my pet bunny rabbit to become available (which will hopefully come in the next update). ;P

Minecraft Xbox One

I think you’ve got the ‘better together’ updated version which allows cross-platform play. We had the Xbox one version and were able to download the updated version for free - it shows up as a separate game tile (so we’ve got two versions of minecraft we can load).

Minecraft Console versions were essentially the same game but for anyone that owns the Xbox One edition was given a free updated version within the last few months I think. This version I can only describe as the unified version that is cross platform and has a slightly different front end UI that looks more suited to a PC setup, once in the game the experience is the same. I think other consoles will eventually get this free updated version to bring it inline with others and bring the 'better together' cross platform option to all except the PS4 as Sony aren'y getting onboard with it.

I brought my daughter the Xbox One S console bundle for Xmas which includes Minecraft with some cosmetic packs and Minecraft Story mode Season 1. When I set it up I realised the bundled Minecraft is the new unified version which initially I thought would put my daughter off due to the main menu and new game UI but she got the hang of it quickly and like I said, once in game its essentially the same.

 

Reverse daylight sensors? What the hell, I spent the last few months giving my castle automatic lighting, I used the stone block trick though to get it to turn the lights on at night.

A reverse sensor would of made the process a lot easier and quicker lol.

 

Yep, it's not a new item either; all you gotta do is go up to your existing sensors and hit them with the left trigger to switch it.

 

What I don't get is why they don't turn off until mid day but turn back on right after mid day. They should turn off when the sun comes up and turn on when the sun is set

 

I hadn't really noticed that, but then again, I've only used that particular feature once, so...

...in other news, MC got a new udpate that allows for the Greek Mythology Mashup - it's available for $3 and is absolutely fantastic (I downloaded it for myself last night). It has a complete world recreated to mirror Ancient Greece in a mythological sense.
Actually seeing Mount Olympus and The Trojan Horse sitting in front of Troy is just awesome - as is the labyrinth. And you can go inside all of them! Add to that the ability to play any of the Gods or mythological monsters (my personal favorites go to Cerberus,
the Stygian Witch, and of course Medusa.

Yeah, actually me and a few of my other NZ and Australian friends complained about it at first, because it didn't come out til night time, we played on it like at 7pm played another game, came back to it at 8:30pm, and got kicked off XBL while Xbox 360 had
to download the update. That's what I like about Xbox 1, it doesn't ABRUPTLY disconnect you from XBL and your Party Chat when there's an Update. One of my friends couldn't join because her Xbox 360 console wouldn't download the Update and the Dashboard said

I really need to put some effort into my X1 worlds. I have plenty in Xbox 360, but since most of my bffs and 80% of my friends on 360 don't have an X1, it's kind of boring playing alone on X1. Goth and Lei Fang don't play Minecraft (really?!, the game is
at the top of the XBL activity charts), most people do, but not everyone. It's Sunday morning for me, so will find a good seed which has saddles, end portal, horses, and villages I can find one off Youtube. I already created a survival world (no, I WONT transfer
my 360 worlds over to X1) with the rail achievement. I also started off 2 creative worlds, lets just say I didn't get really far on them.

Me and my friends also said we'd like dedicated servers that way we can play on the worlds when the Host aka boss XD, is offline. But you only want your bffs on it when you're offline. I give many of my friends Moderator status on my worlds too. But some
of them do end up abusing the moderator privilege like changing the day and weather and giving privelages to their friends without your consent. I took away one of my friends mod for that, but I ended up giving it back to her. One of my friends said he would
kick me and another friend off his friends list if anyone came in or griefed and stole, yes it's something to have to watch for especially in this game. I would also have to be very strict too if and when Microsoft rolled out dedicated servers and could play
worlds when the Host is offline. Me and my friends also questioned why Xbox 1 still only supports 8 players, since X360 can do so and since X1 has A LOT more memory (8GB) and better processor (8 core), to play with. But I do have to say it only takes 1-2 seconds
to save and like 5 seconds to load a world, compared to how loooooonnnnnnggggg it takes to process stuff on the 360 version, and worlds 36x bigger. As readers may see by the length of my post and since it's the weekend, I like like Minecraft. K I'm going to
