Minecraft for Xbox one discount when already own Xbox 360 version

Hello, I tried to purchase the Xbox One version of minecraft however it seems to be listed at full price even though I have already purchased the same game on the Xbox 360. I remember purchasing a number of extra skin and texture packs for the Xbox 360
based on the offer that the Xbox one version was available at a discount for those who had already purchased it on the Xbox 360 and that the extras would actually be free on the Xbox one. I have managed to find a Microsoft site that indicates that this offer
was rescinded on the 25th of February this year. This is disappointing as purchase decisions were made based on this offer that was not advertised as being limited in time. The only limit was that the DLCs had to have been released on the 360 (not purchased)
prior to the release of minecraft on the Xbox one.

As can been seen on this site the game should only cost AUD $6.65 and many of the DLCs I purchased should be available for free.

    Regards,

    Chris

    :)

    PAYING TWICE FOR A GAME

You bought the 360 versions. The xbox one versions are separate games for a different platform.

If you own the 360 version of Minecraft you used to be able to get the xbox one version at a discount, don't know if you still do or not.

  3. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Discount

I can't buy Minecraft: Xbox One Edition for the discount price of $5 even though I own the 360 version on disc and logged into the same Microsoft Account! (I'm also not purchasing it on this account.) I've seen lots of people upgrade to the Xbox One
Edition for $5 because they have the Xbox 360 version. Also, if I buy the $10 Minecraft Season Pass for Minecraft Xbox 360 version will it transfer over to Xbox One? Thanks!

Actually when the offer began they stated that it would only last about a year after the game was released. It ended up lasting way longer than it was originally supposed to. Since the offer has now expired, you would need to repurchase the Xbox one version
in order to play on the One. You may want to keep an eye on majornelson.com for any sales.

Can you let me know where in the Microsoft site that I provided in my post that it indicates it was only available for a limited time, these seen to be the faqs available at the time, i.e. September 2014?

It is not listed on that FAQ, but was listed on the upgrade FAQ that was available on xbox.com while the offer was running (which was removed when the offer expired), and can still be seen in Mojang's announcement in 2014 -

    mojang.com/.../minecraft-on-xbox-one-ps4-and-ps-vita-soon
(under the Xbox One section it does state "You will be able to upgrade for a minimum of a year after the release date.")

Thank you for the further information, as you indicated this was not listed in the FAQs (link I provided) that was used to make purchase decisions. At a minimum this limitation should have been listed in the FAQ section that I provided or even better the
specific FAQ that involved purchasing at a discount should have had a link to the page you provided with a comment indicating that it was subject to the conditions listed on the link page. As far as the DLCs go the wording regarding the minimum 1 year of
availability applies only to the game itself and not the DLCs so it would seem that these should still download on the xbox one for no charge.
