Minecraft for Xbox One - "Cannot join game because you are not friends with anyone on ...

Hello everyone!

I am new at posting to the forum so if you all could help that would be much appreciated.

Last night my mother wanted to play minecraft online with my older brother. So I said okay (note: this problem has been going on for weeks now). Anyway, she comes back into my room and tells me it isn't letting her join the game again so I come out to
see what's happening and it says "Cannot join game because you are not friends with anyone on this server."

"Not this again", I said to myself. So we spent almost three hours trying to trouble shoot this. We checked both NAT types (both said open) we disconnected from the internet and reconnected, we hard reset the xbox, removed and re added accounts, unfriended
and refriended each other, restarted our router, power cycled the xbox and still the same problem. I even tried calling microsoft support for xbox one and that did not help at the least.

I have become super frustrated and now I am on the verge of giving up on this console, I have had problems with this console ever since the last system AND game update and I am not the only person who is having this problem also. Now let me open this up now...

My mom cannot play on her account at all, but when she logs into my live account she can play on mine. My account has no problem playing on my brothers hosted game but she cannot play on his game through her account. I did check and she is FRIENDS with
him, she is not favoriting him or following him, she is FRIENDS with him.

If someone could please give me some insight as to why this is happening it would be greatly appreciated, and I will be very happy. Xbox live is not cheap, especially for a year subscription, I am sure anyone would be mad if they bought a yearly subscription
to a service ($60.00) that they cannot even utilize.

So please help

Friends list is gone?

Same problem. I'm trying ro record a friends minecraft server and it says I cannot join because we are not friends. This is really frustrating

 

Xbox one minecraft multiplayer can't join game because not friends.

Hi, I'm having a trouble connecting to my cousins minecraft multiplayer game. It keeps showing a message saying "Cannot join game because you are not friends with anybody in the game." So is there a solution to this? My cousin can join my game but I can't
join his. We are friends in Xbox one and favorites each other.
