Minecraft for windows + launcher play demo issue

Hi Bug1642! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

If you see a play demo means that you are trying to play the java edition but what you purchased is the Windows edition, on the launcher you have the Java, Dungeons and Bedrock options on the left panel

For me it opens up the Launcher recognizing my minecraft name but for the Java version (which I previously owned under Majong) it says I can PLAY DEMO. For the Minecraft for Windows it says I can PLAY TRIAL. But I already own Minecraft.

Did you try to uninstall and install Minecraft again?

Also go to Minecraft website and download the Windows 7/8 launcher. Try playing the game using it. The Windows 10 launcher is having this "play demo" bug.

Make sure you sign in with the correct Microsoft Account used for the Migration.

I use Win10 operaing system.



I uninstalled minecraft launcher.



As you suggested I downloaded "minecraft launcher for Win 7/8".



At present I still can't play "minecraft java demo version". I can't launch "minecraft bedroch version". There appears notification that bedrock version is incompatible with launcher

The play demo is a known issue with the launcher that can affect some players. But the username showing on the Minecraft website is different than the one you were playing on your Mojang account? Were you playing Minecraft Java or Bedrock?

And do you see your Minecraft purchases on the Minecraft website on this account?
