Minecraft for Windows 10 and code connection connects, but over local IP address

I have purchased Minecraft for Windows 10 v 1.16.40 and using code connection 1.50. The connection works fine and I can select MakeCode as the connector, however when doing tutorials or projects nothing happens when I run them in Minecraft. I think its because
the code shows a local IP on my home network, instead of a Minecraft server, why is this?

Another frustrated parent who purchased from Microsoft but unable to use their product. Not the first time..

Please assist if you know how to get the correct server IP into the code connection.

I got it working, it's supposed to have a local IP when you run Minecraft locally. I reinstalled Minecraft and it worked. There is a clear instruction missing here between step 3 and step 4, you have to hit the run button before hitting t in Minecraft to
enter your word.

I am having the same issue. Today connecting through the windows 10 app and smartglass app on my phone is unable to connect to the xbox automatically or by specifying the IP Address

One important thing I forgot to add, once my IP address was switch to that of the static IP, my desktop internet was not connecting. So what I ended up doing was going back to the Local Area connection Properties (TCP/IP) and clicked on the "Obtain IP address
automatically" again, which solved my internet connection and also allowed me to connect to xbox live.

Let’s isolate your concern by answering the following questions:

Are you getting any error messages?

Are your devices connected to the same network?

Ensure that your Windows 10 and Xbox One are connected to the same network. Here’s how:

1. On your console, go to Settings > All Settings
> Network Settings > Advanced Settings >
IP Settings. Please take note of the IP address.

2. On your Windows 10, start the Xbox app. In the navigation pane, select Connect, enter the Xbox One IP address, and then select
Connect.
