Minecraft Connection Problems

When I try to join ANY of my friends online minecraft game it says: "You cannot join the game as you are not friends with anyone in the game"

My NAT is OPEN. Their server is open to friends, and friends of friends. I can play Battlefront, GTA V online, but I can't connect to any of my friends MC games. I find this pretty ridiculous. I feel like it should be very easy to be able to connect and
play with my friends, ESPECIALLY since its a next gen console. I mean, the only reason I platy games is because I can play them with friends online. This is rendering my MC game useless and I really hope that Microsoft looks into this as there are TONS of
people experiencing this.

Please help me out. I've reset the router, reset network connections, I mean ive tried A LOT.

Minecraft

I am having problems joining my friends game on minecraft it says connection to xbox live returning to main menu and we both have xbox live.

When Launching Minecraft I Lose Connection to Xbox Live

I've never had this happen to me before with any game whatsoever, I have Open NAT. Whenever I launch Minecraft from the Dashboard, Quickplay, My Games, and Xbox Guide paths when the Start screen pops up it says Minecraft needs a Connect Xbox Live account
to have all the features enabled, it says I have lost connection to Xbox Live servers and it asks if I want to test the connection or play offline. I click the test connection option and right when Minecraft is off and I'm in the test connection area I automatically
sign back into Xbox Live and I have no problems whatsoever. I even test my connection and still no problems. I just launch BF3 & GOW3 and I am able to play multiplayer just fine with no connection lost at all!

Anyone having the same isssue?

You say you have tried a lot. Have you tried a hard reset of the console? If not hold down the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds or until the unit powers down completely. Let it set for a couple of minutes and then power it back
on and try it again.

If that don't work try removing your profile then re-downloading it and trying to see if that possibly resolves the issue.

No problems switching from minecraft to other games now... but a new problem arose, now I'm having problems connecting to my internet. Sometimes it will connect after a few minutes, but other times it wont connect at all.

Update: I've narrowed it down to being a problem with the second connected controller. I tried skyrim twice with each controller (first connected controller) in separate sessions (power cycled and everything) and both times no problem with the controller.
In minecraft (separate sessions, power cycled) the problem each time - alternating controllers - and each time the issue was with the second connected controller. tried other 2+ player games and had the same issues I am having with minecraft. Please help!

1. Check if the Minecraft version and the server version match

Make sure that the server you are trying to connect to is compatible with your version of Minecraft. If you are playing Minecraft Java Edition and the server you are trying to connect to is Bedrock Edition (or vice versa), you will not be able to connect.

Solution:

Make sure you are using the correct version of Minecraft (Java or Bedrock) to connect to the appropriate type of server.

You can check the server's official website or introduction page for information on the versions supported by the server.

2. Make sure your internet connection is working

Minecraft may not be able to connect to the server due to network problems. When the network is unstable, too slow, or malfunctioning, it may prevent you from connecting to the server.

Solution:

Make sure your device is connected to a stable network (use a wired connection or make sure the Wi-Fi signal is good).

You can try opening other apps or websites to test the network connection and make sure there are no network interruptions or delays.

3. Check Minecraft's Firewall or Network Settings

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, but I still get the same "Connection Failed: Connection to the server was lost. Exiting to main menu." message. Is this problem due to an update by the Minecraft people? I just tried out Turbo Thunder and it works.
It seems like only Minecraft is affected.
