Minecraft: Connecting with friends

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the forums with this situation. I understand you're having issues with playing with friends on different versions of Minecraft. For the cross platform all parties involved need to have the most recent version of Minecraft
to be able to play. Xbox One edition Minecraft needs to be updated to the most recent version before being able to play cross platform. You can also try safely powering down and unplugging the console/laptop and any network equipment involved. After five minutes

Thanks for the reply and update. Sorry to hear that so far you're still having difficulty with Minecraft on your Xbox One. You should be able to connect with your buddie's worlds easily if your network connection is a good one and maintain connection to
the servers as well, especially if you've already gotten the "Better Together" update installed. If you haven't already checked your network and multiplayer connections, I recommend trying out our Xbox
One Multiplayer Connection Error Solution just in case there may be an issue that continues to knock you out of the game.

In regard to the issue of having to shut down the entire console in order to play a different game, you shouldn't have to do so and is it possible for you to get to the One Guide in order to simply select Minecraft & quit the game?

1. Start by pressing the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Verify that the game or app you wish to close is highlighted from the mini-guide on the left side of the screen, and then press the
   Menu button on your controller.
3. Select Quit.

If the console becomes unresponsive, then you'll need to
power cycle your Xbox One console instead.

Hi it's not the Xbox One Edition, but "Minecraft for Xbox". Basically not the "old" console edition but the version which should be playable cross platform.

Turning off a router, laptop or console isn't a valid solution sort of never... that does not make sense. And if it works, it's temporarily.

In this case, nothing works AND, when I want to play a different game after playing Minecraft on the Xbox One I can't play games unless I turn of my Xbox first.

There could be several reasons why you can't connect to your friend's world in Minecraft Bedrock:

Firewall or router configuration: Your firewall or router may be blocking incoming connections, which would prevent your friend from connecting to your world.

Internet connection: A slow or unstable internet connection can prevent you from connecting to your friend's world.

Game version mismatch: You and your friend may be playing on different versions of the game. Ensure you are both on the same version of Minecraft Bedrock.

Xbox Live account: Make sure both you and your friend are logged in to Xbox Live, as it is required for multiplayer on Minecraft Bedrock.

NAT type: You may need to change your NAT type from strict to moderate, or open, in order to connect to your friend's world.

The only way you can connect to other worlds is if you have friends that are in an open game.
