Minecraft - child account can't purchase from marketplace

My kids play Minecraft on their iPads. One of them is able to purchase from the marketplace by asking permission via their guardian. My other kid's account comes up with an error when trying purchase.

When I click the "£7.99" button to purchase, a box saying "Purchase in progress..." displays, but underneath it there's a message: "Something went wrong. Sorry, we were unable to complete your purchase. Maybe check your internet connection?". Once this message comes up there's nothing you can do except kill the app and start it again.

The internet connection is fine. I've tried logging out, restarting the app and logging back in, but nothing changes the outcome.

I can't find a difference in the settings between the two accounts which might explain this. Is there something I have missed somewhere?

I understand. Our best option here is to contact the live support as they will be able to fix this for you. You can request a call back or live chat on the Xbox support website. If you are facing any issues with that, please go through Microsoft support. Once you get to the virtual agent just say “Talk to an agent” and select Xbox as the product, and your issue from the list. Select the option “Call me back” or “Live chat”, which shows the estimated wait time/queue.

If you don't see the options to request a call back or chat with support, change your category/topic until you do. If it does not work, please select billing & Subscriptions and "I don't recognize a charge".

The problem is only with one account and has persisted over several routers. I'll try getting in touch with live support

The error message you are receiving refers to a problem with the internet connection. The first thing we suggest is Resetting or restarting your router then try again. However, if the issue persist in only one specific account, then we recommend getting in touch with our live support for them to check the account from their end.

Child accounts can't purchase/download rated content above their age (T for under 13, M for under 18), or unrated (Indie) games from the marketplace. They just can't and there is no way to turn this off on a child account. You'll have to use an adult account
to download the content or wait till you can promote your account to an adult account.

Temhotabot

You can't. As for your child you can set up a child account for him and set Parental Controls to disallow the purchase/download of any Marketplace content.
