Minecraft can’t join cross network.

My friend is trying to join my minecraft world on his xbox from a different network. I am on windows 10 edition. How can he join me cross network?

Hi Cash,

Thanks for coming to the forums. Your friend needs to adjust his Xbox live privacy settings. There are two under communication and multiplayer that need to allow.

You can play with people outside Xbox live
You can communicate outside of Xbox live with voice and text

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are experiencing difficulties with being able to have your friends join your worlds in Minecraft.

Do you experience the same situation when you attempt to join their worlds? This could have something to do with your Microsoft accounts

Cross-Network play settings. We encourage you to make sure you have these settings configured to Allow.

The cross play of Minecraft works as such,

The PC/MAC is separate from the other versions in terms of cross-play. As in the only way to join a game with console or mobile players (or Windows 10) is to play on a realm.

Console (Xbox and PS), Mobile and Windows 10 will all work without needing realms as long as your friends are online or on the same network as yourself.

It is only the PC/MAC version of the game that will require you to use realms to join each others game.
