Minecraft across device help

We have a Switch and want to play games across different devices. My son wants to play Minecraft with his aunt on her iPad; she is disabled so we can’t visit. Playing games together would mean so much to them both. I have been trying for weeks to get this sorted out but I now need help. We have Minecraft to the switch and she has Minecraft on the up to date ipad, plus a monthly subscription for the realms etc. What can I do now? Thanks.

Hi Francia, the message says

' The Microsoft account does not have permission to join multiplayer games'.

I have tried every troubleshooting guide and tips found online from other gamers and official sources but I still can't connect them. Thanks, Sam

Thank you for letting me know. For you to manage it you can simply sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings.

If the system detects that your account is a child account you will be redirected to a support site and if not you will be able to change it successfully.

If you were redirected to a support page, please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/family and check if there is an organizer account linked to your account then use the organizer account so sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings then "allow" the setting on this screenshot:

Do you have a backup save on PS Plus servers? You can recover the data from there.

I believe there is no cross-progression between the versions.

On what device are you playing Minecraft?

If playing on the Xbox One, is that sync message a Xbox system message (i.e. a grey bar across the screen with a green loading bar), or is that an in-game message (i.e. in pixelated Minecraft graphics)?
