    Minecraft account migration didn't work


    According to this article, I was still able to migrate my Mojang account to a Microsoft one. To my knowledge, this is exactly what I did on 20 September 2023, and my Mojang account has since been de-activated. However, I've completely lost access to the game. I'm a student who hasn't had time to play Minecraft for a long time. Thus, I wasn't aware of the migration process, but when I found out this week, I figured I'd still have time.

    I've had my account since 2014, but that's not what I'm afraid of losing. I just don't want to lose the money used to purchase it in the first place. I have two Microsoft accounts, and in my hurry to migrate it, I did forget which one I used for the process. However, neither of them received the "confirmation email" that granted my account entitlement. I've logged into both of them on the launcher and the website, but neither of them own the game. Does anyone know if the process takes a while, or if I just need to purchase it again?

For now, this is really the protocol for Minecraft to migrate your account. As it turns out, we do not have the right and specific tools here that we can share to you about all of your invested time and playing time within Minecraft and we do are very acknowledged gamers with that kind of playing time since I am a gamer myself, it is also very important to me on all of those achievements that we had made and as well as those given efforts on playing time.

    That is a good move to reach out to Minecraft or Mojang since that is the process and they are the ones held responsible for that as well since what we can cater is about Xbox Services and we can offer help to our limitations, and I do understand the experience that you have got. As it turns out this relies on specific Mojang issues since we do not have the right tools and resources that we can provide and only Mojang is the one that can cater your other concerns.

    At the least, that is the right thing as well to reach to them for your concern can also be heard on them since I know that you are not the only one experiencing this. In fact, they will be pinged that there are many users encountering this and possible Mojang might make a move onto this as well.

    I do understand the urgency of you wanting to find other ways for this issue of yours in regards with your Microsoft Account that you want to migrate it to Mojang. We are very glad to help you out to find some of the best possible options and troubleshooting's that we can provide for you.

    We just want to set your proper expectations on this that we do have very limited resources here on Microsoft Community when it comes to checking the "Specific" account of yours that has the license of your Minecraft game or perhaps the game itself since we do not have the specific tools on checking your account here to verify where the game license is attached on your Microsoft Account.



    To get started, I'd like to ask a few questions to better understand the problem that you're facing:

    • What is the error message when you sign in both of your email accounts?
    • Is your account has not been inactive? Since you have that account on 2014 and just migrated it on the said date that you mentioned on September 20, 2023?
    • Are you receiving any error messages or codes when trying to migrate your account?
    • Since you have mentioned you are a student. Is there a possibility that your account that you have used is a "school account?" Thus, perhaps it may conflict when signing in due to some restrictions on the school organization if you have used a school account to tie up that Minecraft license on that account.

    We are asking these questions for us to isolate the issue that you are facing on finding where the account is tied on your Minecraft game license since you are unable to migrate your Microsoft account on Mojang due to your Mojang account has been de-activated.

    Assuming that you have already tried to migrate your Minecraft account and it didn't work, here are some steps that you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check your account information: Make sure that you're using the correct login credentials for your Minecraft account. Double-check your email address and password to ensure that they're correct.

    2. Clear your browser cache: Sometimes, browser cache can cause issues with account migration. Clear your browser cache and try again.

    3. Disable any browser extensions: Some browser extensions can interfere with account migration. Disable any extensions that you have installed and try again.

    4. Use New InPrivate Window: Using InPrivate Window is a way as well to sign in without some credentials that is signed in on your browser since perhaps there might be some account credentials that is signed in on your regular browser.

    5. Try a different browser: If you're still having trouble, try using a different browser to migrate your account.

    In addition, just want to give a heads up. Since you have mentioned that you have your account since 2014. If ever that accounts has been inactive for 2 year's time. By default, the system will automatically close that Microsoft Account due to inactivity and the system might recognized that no one anymore is using that account. On the other hand, it may seems like this really relates on your account since this may tend to have issues on migrating your account on Mojang. For now, what we can suggest is to try to reach out to Mojang in regards with your account and let them try to see if they can still see your account.
