Mine craft cannot play multi player and connect to worlds

My kids play mine craft on ipads, both have microsoft account and can login and play individually. I have set privacy on both accounts and enabled multi player. When they try to connect to the same world for mulit player use they each get message “unable to connect to world”. They can see each other as friends and are able to invite each other but will not connect please help. Thanks
