Migrating Microsoft games/settings/friends from parent to child.

he will have to start over with a new account, leave your account on the xbox as the home console and he can access the games still.

alot of people fall into this situation yet a child account can be made for them from as early as 2 as my kids all have there own accounts under the adult account. these can then upgrade to adult account when 18, one of my kids reach 18 and upgraded.

Nothing can be transferred between accounts.

There is. As I said, a parent can restrict all forms of communication for the child's account. In the child's account, go to Settings> Privacy> Change Settings, and select either "Adult," "Teen," or "Child". The password for the parent account will have
to be entered to confirm any change.

If the child is playing Halo Reach for example, and "Child" settings are selected, everyone in the game is irreversibly muted, and incoming and outgoing messages and friend requests are blocked. Any and all forms of communication are blocked. It would be
like playing with AI.

So there really is no excuse to cry about bullying on Xbox Live when you have settings like these available. That is unless a parent lied and created an adult account for their child. In which case they have no right to complain about adult messages going
to the account.

You can create a child account on your current parental account. You can not transfer games, saved progress etc. You can set the parental account to Home Xbox and the child account would have access to the games but not the saved progress.

It is not Microsofts fault that a child account was not set up.

It's great that you want to make such an amazing gift for your friend's grandson.

While others already described how to remove your account, please help your friend make an account for himself (an adult account), and a separate (child) account for his grandson.

Some (grand) parents make the mistake of using their own adult email account and let the kid play with that.

However, by using their own adult account for the kid, the kid is regarded as an adult for the console, and the parent is unable to prevent the kid from talking to internet strangers for example, or limit the playtime. Also, this prevents the kid from going
on an (accidental) shopping spree, and buying stuff from the Xbox Marketplace with the parent's credit card or bank account.

So please advise your friend, that when they create an account for his grandchild, that he (or the father of the kid) should create their own adult Microsoft Account and then a separate child account (by giving the kid's actual birthdate during account creation).

After the child account is created, the parent should then go to
https://account.microsoft.com/family and add the child account to their family.

That way, the parent can set permissions and privacy options to make the Xbox a safe place to play.

Additionally, this avoids later issues, where the kid would be able to access the parent's email or other Microsoft Services, if the parents let the kid play on their account. Later, you can't move the kid's gaming account away from the parent email account,
without the parent's Microsoft Account being deleted.
