Migrated Mojang Account to a Microsoft Account that i closed

Hello,

I bought Minecraft probably 5-6 Years ago. I think it was around last fall, when Microsoft urged us to migrate the Mojang account to a Microsoft Account, so i did. At that time i had two Microsoft accounts one with my main mail address and one with my secondary (I had two because quite some time ago i created one for my new Windows Computer not knowing that i already had one).

Around Christmas I decided that it was inconvenient to have two seperate accounts, so I closed one of the two Accounts. Since the account with the secondary mail address had some purchases on the Microsoft store and my main one didn't, I closed that one. I then waited the 60 day window until it was fully deleted so that i could set my main mail adress as the primary alias for the still existing Microsoft account that was using my secondary mail.

Fast forward to now, i decided to play some Minecraft again but wenn i tried to launch the game it would only let me play the demo version. Turns out, when deleting my second Microsoft account, I had that I had migrated my Mojang Account it.

Since I can't reopen said Microsoft account (only works for 60 days after deleting) I was wondering wheter there was a way to recover the lost Mojang account.

After all, I already paid for the game and I don't wan't to have to purchase it again in order to play it.

When you close a Microsoft account all the purchases connected to it and services are also deleted, there's no way to recover that content, as is mentioned during the account deletion process

Hi there Josef,

I did migrate my Mojang Account to a Microsoft Account.

I did get an email to confirm the migration went well.

The email address of my Mojang Account is the same email address than that of my Microsoft Account.

The migration took place on 20 juli 2022

Mojang has confirmed me, just before they closed my ticket, that there was no paid Minecraft Content active on my Gamertag .

Does it help that I noticed that my Gamertag on the Mojang Account was different than that of my Microsoft Account.

Both helpdesks had me run through the article you mentioned. Microsoft had me also reinstall the Minecraft Launcher.

Please try these steps.

If your Mojang account has been migrated to Microsoft, you do not need to purchase the game again. If you are being prompted to do so, it is either because the migration process did not complete correctly or, more likely, you are logged into a different Microsoft account than the one you used for the migration.

What to do:

1. Check which Microsoft account you are logged into:

Make sure you are using the same Microsoft account that was used to migrate your Mojang account. If you do not remember which one it is, contact Microsoft support to retrieve the email address you used for the migration.

2. Check if the migration was completed:

Access your Mojang account profile on the Mojang website and check if the migration was completed. If not, try starting the migration process again.

3. Contact Mojang Support:

If the issue persists, contact Mojang Support via the Mojang Support website, providing your purchase receipt and explaining the situation.

4. Check Microsoft accounts:

Make sure you are not using a different Microsoft account than the one you used for the migration
