Migrate an XBOX account to a new email

I have been playing XBOX under my Dad's account. He wants me to set up my own account but I don't want to lose all my progress. I can see that it is possible to set up an alias but this just provides access still to my Dad's MS account. I want to move all my XBOX settings and progress to a totally new account, which is mine alone.

Is this possible and how do I do it?

Hey there!

Once a Microsoft Account has a Gamertag associated to it, an Xbox Live Gamertag migration is not possible. Unfortunately in this case that means that your GMX email will not be able to migrate to your Gmail due to it already having an Xbox Live account tied

so when it migrations is completed and mojang emailed me the code and sent it to my email account were does this new account come from do i need a new email address just for minecraft or a 2nd account on micrsoft or an new xbox account were do i get this new account from ??????? i dont understand

Hi, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

I'm sorry but changing the alias will be the only option. Your dad's email will be the secondary email because if you delete or remove his account it will be deleted permanently.

If that is the case, then how do I protect my one drive from being accessed by my child?

It's not in the migration instructions, but after the migration, you have to ADD a NEW account, and link it to your Microsoft account. Startup will take longer, but it sure works.

On the login prompt in the java launcher, go back. You'll see the mojang account you had been signing into - ignore it, and add a new account to the launcher. Using the email address associated with the microsoft account you just migrated to, sign in with the email address and password of your microsoft account. It's not an elegant migration on the UX side of things, but it does work.
