Might have fried my xbox one power brick

So long story short i plugged my US xbox into a EU plug with an adaptor. Turned my back for a second heard a hiss and sizzle and whipped back around to discover white smoke billowing out of the vents in my brick.

I managed to find a buddy who has a converter and i plugged the brick back in (with out it being connected to the xbox) just to see if there was any life and the white light on the brick came on.

Does this mean my brick will still work or should i not chance it and try to buy a replacement?

    :)

Adapter is burnt the first time I plug in.

Yeah if you ended up using the power brick that came with the xbox when you bought it in the US and plugged it in while in india you would have fried your xbox one.

The voltage in india is 220v and the voltage the US power bricks use are only 110v.

If you used the US power brick in india this is would NOT be covered under warranty.

Using Extension cords, adapters, converters could do damage to the power brick and what i see is i do not recommend you plugging your console into the same brick it may cause some issues even worse from what you currently are experiencing.

If you are curious on if it still works a local retailer can clarify the damage (Only if you have a local MS retailer)

Fried Power Brick on Xbox One

Just to add, if when plugged into the surge protector, the whole floor trips and the surge protector didn't, i'd be looking to replace the surge protector, as its not doing it's job at all!

Sounds like your power brick is destroyed, you should stop trying to use it immediately. The electricity tripping will be being caused by an earthing or shorting fault (the current from the live feed grounding or contacting with the return causing a spike
and trip). Get a replacement ASAP.

Fried Power Brick on Xbox One

Thanks, I know now that it is the power brick that is the problem and not the actual house... I will be going to a GameStop or a Microsoft store to purchase a new one.

Same thing occurring when I plug the brick into the wall or a different surge, plus I use other plugs that are fine in the same surge.
