Miffed and out $60 (kind of)

I guess I'm too much of a logical thinker.

I wanted to purchase a 1-year Xbox Live Gold account for my son, who doesn't have a credit card on his account (by design!) to use on our Xbox 360.

So, I went to the Microsoft Store and purchase a $50 and $10 amounts (because you can't specify your own amount???) to get the $60 on his account so he could buy it.

Lo and behold, you cannot use that as a payment option for Xbox Live Gold. ARRRRGGGHHH!!! WHY????

Not only that, but I called Xbox customer service, and there's no way for them to refund my money???? What kind of technology company is this??? So basically I'm out $60 unless I can figure out something to buy from Microsoft, and I'll have to spend another
$60 to get my son a pre-paid card for Gold.

Microsoft, this has been a frustrating experience. Has anyone had this experience and found a way to get the money back or at least use it to buy a membership?

I think people who are miffed at certain perks being powerful are going to be super miffed with the new create a class set up. Haven't they already alluded to the possibility of having more than three perks? It will be very interesting to see how this
really pans out in November.

GRADY, When you buy a disk verion your still installing the WHOLE game. so if you bought Battlefield 4 you will still be installing thos 40GBs as if you were downloading it digitally.

 

There are several people who have had the same experience, but there is no way to use that currency to purchase gold and once it's redeemed there is no way to get it back.

Also, you can find gold cards cheaper anywhere that isn't directly from Microsoft. There aren't too many deals at the moment, but you can get a 12 month from Amazon for $47 right now.

 

Cdkeys.com has lots of sales and make sure you are in the same region as the codes so look at the compatibility

And it is stated on the subscription screen you must have a payment method on file to buy a subscription as it is a renewable tranaaction by design

If you want pay as you go then you buy prepaid subscription cards

Currency cards always say cannot be used for subscriptions no console allows . this because of the design of the subscription

 

I stacked my membership with that when it was on sale for 37bucks each for 1year subscriptions only 3years max fyi

 

Currently the cheapest is 42 bucks for 12+1 months
