Midnight download/Pre Order for PS4 but not XB1?!?!?!?!!

Well yeah. I want to play with Bruce Lee and Royce Gracie, but can't because I want to play the game at midnight instead of waiting until Gamestop opens tomorrow.

 

It's up to the developers whether they offer pre-order content for digital releases. For example, I was able to get my pre-order content when I bought and paid for Forza Motorsport 5 and Ryse Son of Rome because they had it setup so you'd automatically get
it via a code if you bought the games within the 1st 2 weeks or so (so it's actually much more lenient than pre-ordering physical copies in a way). However, those codes for the content didn't show up until almost a month after each games' release (although
I have reason to believe this was a temporary issue with XBL that has since been fixed). Naturally, physical pre-order content (statues, collectibles, art books, etc.) will be much harder to provide, if not outright impossible with digital games.

 

So basically you can't play with Bruce Lee or Royce Gracie unless you want to wait until Gamestop opens tomorrow morning. Grimey.

Digital is the future, everything should be set up to favor digital over physical, lower prices, pre order exclusives, bonus content, etc. The developers would more than make up the difference with increased sales and much lower production cost vs physical
disc.

 

I don't know if it's true or not, gangsta, but I've heard others say that digital is nearly as costly as physical (if not worse). They usually say something about server maintenance & things like that...

 

So are you going to play the game at midnight or first thing in the morning? Does having to get the game from a shop really matter that much at this point?

Sounds like it is something MS are looking into so hopefully we'll see it for games like Halo: MCC

 

You can get Bruce Lee by beating the game on one of the higher difficulties. Maybe the other character too.

Either way the complaining is pretty annoying.

 

@GG they basically are the same cost. The price for a company like EA, to buy cds, book art, cases and transport costs are small compared to actual game production costs. People tend to forget large companies usually have contracts with delivery companies,
print shops, warehouses, and DVD/blu-ray manufacturers. Not to mention cheap labor.

I honestly don't know how digital games are stored but I imagine some sort of fee somewhere. IMHO the price drop people could see would be maybe $5-7(UK/NZ/AUS get a greater discount of course)

 

Just to clarify the misinformation - on the competition, digital pre-order has been in place for ages. Pre-download (and pre-install) start June 24th.

 

if you want to pre order a game, why not do it at a gamestop or best buy. you only have to put $5 towards it

@Cujo....why pay for a game in bits by giving your money to some business to hold for you?? Why not set aside the money in your own savings account, or a jar....then buy the game after learning/investigating whether it is worth buying?? The gaming industry
is holding carrots over our heads with pre-order bonus items (a crappy extra map or stupid "skin" for a character) and gamers are falling for it hook, line, and sinker. Sony and Microsoft are also converting "disc only" gamers with their digital game monthly
"give aways". Amazing how gullible gamers are as consumers. You know, waiting 1-4 days after a game releases (to be sure that you are buying a quality product) is not going to kill you...

 

Xbox need to let go of the 360 and move everything from 360 to the one. There's so much more to do one the 360.. the Xbox one feels empty.. at least it has my TV channels fav. lol
