Middle-earth stopped working

Please repair or reset the Xbox App by opening Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.

Find the Xbox app, click Advanced Options. Select Repair and then Reset if incase repair doesn’t work. Relaunch the app and retry opening the game.

And reinstall gaming services because a broken Gaming Services package can trigger this error. Open PowerShell as Administrator.

Run the following commands:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Reinstall Gaming Services and restart your PC.

Next is to verify Internet and Windows updates. Please make sure that your system and network are ready for updates. Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.

Check your internet connection and test by visiting other websites or using other online apps.

Then reset Windows Store cache. To do this, press Windows + R, type wsreset, and hit Enter.

The command will reset the Store cache and close the window when complete.

Please launch the game again through the Xbox app.

After that is to check for background processes by opening Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and close background apps like antivirus or game-related processes.

Restart the game and see if it resolves the issue.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly uninstall the game via the Xbox app or Settings > Apps. Restart your PC.

Reinstall the game from the Xbox app and then launch it.
