    hi, i joined the preview program in the end of march/beginning of april, i got a system update then and everything was fine, i got my second update as part of the preview program in mid april and ever since then my system has serious trouble reading DVD's,
    i reported this through the preview dashboard and the next day got a message saying my disc drive is damaged and to have it sent for repairs (which would cost god knows what because my xbox has conveniently just run out of its warranty) but the xbox has no
    issues playing any other type of disc (games, bluerays, msic CD's etc)ive just recently spoken with a member of the support team for xbox and explained everything to him, he agrees with me that there could be nothing physically wrong with the machine considering
    it has no issues with anything else and that it has something to do with the update, unfortunately there wasnt much he could do to help but assured me he would make a point of raising the issue and advised me to post this on here to voice the issue and to
    find out if anyone else has had any similar issues since an update,

    so what im looking to find out is have any other xbox one owners had similar issues??

    also i would like to know what will be done about this issue by xbox themselves, i know that its a preview and things can go wrong and i understand that, but as part of the preview program we are supposed to report issues so they can be resolved and to be
    honest i found it down right cheeky and arrogant that when i do report a problem im told its my machine and thats that, where other staff tell me it couldnt be or i woldnt be having such a specific problem, its as if the first members that contacted me couldnt
    be bothered to fix their mess.

    if anyone else has any information on this topic i would be gratefull. thanks.

    Disc reading issues.

    Heya APEX ASSASSlN.

    To clarify, if you recently purchased you Xbox One, it may be quicker to exchange it at the retailer. I would check in with the store you purchase for before shipping off your console.

    You should receive instructions to your e-mail with steps on how to ship your Xbox One. You would need to take the parcel to the depot that the included shipping label is intended for.

    Ok so I have now done a reset. Still 360 games are not working also tried DVD and CD and now they both don't work.

    Hey there, xbox report dat! I'm very sorry to see any issues regarding your console.

    Back in August, there was an update for consoles that caused what you are describing. The consoles that may have been affected by this are flagged and need to be sent in for repairs to be resolved. The reason why you may not have seen this previously is
    because these consoles weren't supposed to be receiving updates since August, and entering the preview may have flicked something over to give you the warning.

    If you are just outside of your warranty, the phone team generally can give you a courtesy 30 day grace period for a warranty repair. Give them a call through our
    contact us page for more information on your particular situation.

    Normally I would refer you to the Preview forums, but since your situation is related to something that happened outside of while you've been in the program, please do let me know what support says in regards to a repair. I want to make sure you're all set
    here. I look forward to your response!

  5. Misses Quinzel my console has always received updates and has never had any issue with this before (including with updates after august) this happened on the very day i got my second update from the preview program, now that being said just assume for a
    second that my console is one of the faulty ones you've mentioned, my warranty is past the 30 days grace which means microsoft would attempt to charge me for repairs to a product they admit was faulty at purchase and i would end up having an argument with
    them over this, and considering the retail laws of the country i reside in, that is an argument i would win hands down.

    however as i previously said, there are members of the support staff i've been in direct contact with and both myself and they went through all the details of the console and its current issue, and it was those members of the support staff who said the
    console itself is not at fault it is the update.

    i dont mean to sound as if im jumping down your throat as thats not my intention, im just sick of getting run around in circles

    From the developer:

    If you're getting the error at the title screen, they're working on an update that will fix the problem but it doesn't look like there's anything to do but wait.

    If it's happening mid-game, it's actually a disc read error that's giving an incorrect message. Check to make sure the disc is clean and has no scratches and also try to install to the hard drive.
