" "Microtransactions" have no place on a Gaming System that costs hundreds to purchase in the first place. "

It really depends to me. I would say that microtransactions can be good. I do not buy them however. The thing is I would much rather have unnecessary microtransactions and have all future game content like campaign missions and mp content be free as compared
to DLC. Take Halo 5 for example. I never have and never will purchase a Req. pack. Yet all maps and stuff are free. It is much better than the route of making all those things paid without the Req. system. And I have a TON of Reqs. and enough points to
open about 100 Req. packs. All just from playing. Honestly, how is that not a good thing? Or should we have paid dlc for the complete experience?

  3. Saw this after I posted:

" There are good ways to do this. "Evolve"'s Microtransactions were all 100% cosmetic, whereas the DLC actually added new hunter characters and monsters.

Then there are bad ways to do it like "HALO 5" with the REQ Packs or the upcoming "Gears Of War 4" where if you want the complete experience you'll be asked to purchase their version of REQ Packs. "

Not sure about Evolve really since I did not buy any. How did Evolve do it? Where all hunters and monsters free and supported by the unnecessary microtransactions? Or did you have to buy them? Maybe I am missing something with this. But in Halo 5 I
have never needed a microtransaction for anything. I get a ton of Reqs. just by playing and have yet to find the system game breaking. Evolve, at least I thought, you had to PAY to get more hunters and monsters. At least those is what I thought. How is
that better than the Halo 5 system? Not implying it is not and I could be missing something.

"If a game wants to charge $60 upfront then it doesn't get to do Microtransactions, even if they are cosmetic only."

Well, I am fine if it is not required. I do not care about skins. I would much rather that as compared to dlc. I guess one could argue that dlc is a no as well. But I remember playing games and wishing there were more maps but this was during the early
online stuff where you where pretty much stuck with the original purchase. 5-6 maps and no real hope for more. And the games where $50-$60 (even NES games I remember paying $50 for many times when I was young).

The big issue is that some of the content is honestly not even made by the same team. They outsource the making of that. No $$ then no more content. Sure, there are cases where the main big company pulled content to resell and that is bad. But I know
of a decent number of cases where the content was done by another team and it cost. And without the $$ from the dlc or some kind of microtransaction that content would not get made. It is not a case of held back content. Or that the content should have
came with the game at $60. You, I, or anyone else that purchased the original game received all the content in those cases. It is just that some of that money was re-invested in more content hoping to make a little more profit and keep the game viable longer.

    " "one of the idiots"

Who are you to call someone an idiot for spending money on something they enjoy? "

This hit as I was posting my other comment and I wanted to comment. I agree it is tough to call someone and idiot when they are spending THEIR money on something they enjoy. Still, it really does take an idiot to spend on some of these things. I know
a case where a guy spend $1000 on in game content just for the prestige factor. Did not improve the game or nothings. His wife was *** because they do not have a whole lot. That right there is an idiot. I told him as much and did not help him out of the
mess straight up. I actually had my wife give his wife some money to help them out. She paid some bills but never told him they where paid and put the money back in case this fool did it again (and yes, he did it again). I would say that qualifies as and
idiot. And you would be surprised (or maybe not) how many people who really cannot afford it support these microtransactions. Many times to please their kids.

Some banks charge fees every time you use your card. Mine doesnt so I welcome micro transactions. Most things cost $$$.

As for POKEMON GO yes its popular. My Xbox friends and real life friends are hyper about it. I even got it on my samsung s5 which is water and rain proof with gorilla glass 2. Ive dropped it badly several times and its totally undamaged. Peeps have even
been talking bout it on the Planet Coaster forums a funtastic PC game developed by frontier.

Regarding micro transactions request your bank not to send you PAPER statements otherwise youll probably get 200 pages on paper listing every micro transaction.

In "Evolve" the Microtransactions gave you access to something like a hundred different skins for weapons, characters and monsters.

These gave you no advantage or bonuses as a hunter or a monster.

The game was further supported with 2 lots of DLC that gave you new Hunter characters for each category as well as a couple of monster characters as well. You paid for these but they added to your game.

In "HALO 5" you start with standard weapons which you want to get rid of really quickly because all the others guns are better.

You do have the odd chance of picking off some of the local A.I. and taking their weapons or even vehicles but you are essentially Cannon Fodder for those who have purchased Req Packs and been given better weapons to begin the game with.

While it is possible to earn Req Packs by completing Cannon Fodder sessions that's a slow process and it's not a particularly entertaining process.

To defend it seems particularly ridiculous really especially when the developer has essentially made a conscious decision to make the game you just paid full price for and lock content behind a pay wall and then weakly try and qualify it by saying it's possible
to play your way there omitting the small print regarding the annoying and unrewarding slow grind.

To attempt to defend it seems particularly ridiculous.

"Oh... look... I'm being shafted... but I didn't feel like I was getting shafted".

That you need others to point out that you were being shafted undermines any points you may be attempting to make.

Responding with "No really... I wasn't actually being shafted..." is not going to do you any further favours and finally... "Look, if you couldn't enjoy being shafted as much as I did while I was being shafted... then you're the one who was actually shafted"
is going to do nothing more than make a case for eugenics.

^ No it doesn't affect me as a gamer, I've played games every day since launch and not been affected once by MT's or feeling the need to rant about them. But then I spend most of my time gaming not trying to convince every one else they are idiots because
    a) they may not care about MT's or b) they don't enjoy whatever niche market game your championing at the time that no one else cares about. As for Halo 5 I played it free the other week and at the end of the campaign I had quite a few REQ boxes to open.
I don't know how much Halo5 you have played but if its anything like your usual form probably very little....

Microtransactions are the venereal disease of the console world, with the proper protection you won't get them.

^ LOL! One more thing its almost three years since launch and I don't see the deterioration of the quality and content of games due to MT's. Quite the opposite in fact which is why this gen I am constantly playing catch up.

It's funny how some players hate MTs more than others. I'm not overly competitive so I couldn't care less about somebody having the upperhand in a game if they've spent a few extra quid.

If you have a spare $300 dollars to spend on a game and you think you're gonna get pleasure from doing so, then great. If you can't afford $300 but you're spending it on a credit card then you have issues.

I'm an adult, MTs don't effect my gaming pleasure whatsoever.

  11. My problem with (aside from not being a fan of MTs to begin with) H5's MT system and reqs is that it feels purposely injected into Warzone, as opposed to being a natural part of the game.

I mean... when I'm playing a game, I want to play it. I don't want to have to be interrupted at all, let alone be interrupted multiple times throughout a game, just to bounce around in a bloated mess of a UI in an effort to hunt down the weapon, vehicle
or power up item I'd like to use. How stupid is that? Completely... IMO.

You start out playing with basic weapons. The better you perform, the faster you build "req energy". The faster you build req energy, the faster you earn higher tiers of req choices.

So your "reward" for performing well is to have to stop what you're doing to scamper off to the nearest req station, interrupt your gaming by pulling up a menu (while your character stands there, vulnerable) and comb through a bloated menu to equip something
that used to spawn on the maps. And hey! If that doesn't sound like fun... just think... the better you perform, the more often you get to do that! Yayyyy... well, I guess you do have access to the req menu while you're waiting to respawn, so you could just
go get killed. Oh wait... Warzone gives points to the opposing team for that, not to mention you aren't performing very well if you get killed, so that's a bit counter productive.

Yeah... no thanks, I'd rather not have MTs, but if they have to be there at least have the common sense to make them a cosmetic only type of thing or set up some kind of system that can be preset before the game starts... or something.

^^ H5 presents them like that and only during gameplay? How terrible is that. That's sounds awful.

  13. Microtransactions - The Discussion!

^Depends on what you mean by "only during gameplay". You have req packs and a full menu that you can view (if memory serves) anytime you want, but the reqs themselves and how they're deployed in actual gameplay is like I described.

There were even people complaining on Waypoint awhile back, that they were being trolled... literally bounced out of the req menu by their own team mates who found out they could interrupt you and keep you from accessing your reqs by Spartan charging you,
which I guess bounced you back into the game.

I literally cannot imagine who thought it would be fun to interrupt game play in that manner, just to keep power weapons, vehicles and power up items off the maps in order to put them in a MT system.

Sure, if you're broke and keep spending on something like games, it might be justified to call a person like that an idiot. Same goes for those who are broke yet must have the latest iPhone or travel to Thailand and then suddenly they're in debt or something.
But if you have the money to spend and don't have to worry about going broke, then it's nobody's business to call the person an idiot for spending on their entertainment.

Also, this isn't even a case of just paying for something that doesn't even affect the game (like weapon skins for example) as the Pokemong Go store offers necessary items as well as nice boosters to help you get the best Pokemon around.

  15. No, I have never used micro transactions before in any game. I dislike that Halo 5 uses them as well.
