Microsoft’s Refusal to Acknowledge Xbox One X’s Issues

I have been experiencing multiple issues for the past few months with my Xbox One X (e.g. games failing to load, save errors, system menus freezing, E105 error). I have already tried all the recommended options of fixing the Xbox myself (including fully
resetting it) and it isn’t possible to fix the issues without opening the Xbox. Upon researching what was causing the issues and how to fix them, I found a lot of other people had the exact same issues as me. It seems as though the issues are caused by poor
quality capacitors that are overheating due to a major design flaw in the Xbox’s heat management system. This causes power fluctuations and thus leads to hard drive corruption.

I visited the Microsoft device service and replacement webpage to request a repair. The webpage gives you 11 broad options to choose from to describe your issues. The only option I could choose to describe my Xbox’s issues was ‘other’. There are no options
at all that I can select that relate to the issues I have been experiencing. The repair price quoted by Microsoft for selecting ‘other’ is £236.40 (that’s 70% the cost of a brand new Xbox One X). I could fix the issue myself in an afternoon by installing better
capacitors and it would cost no more than £10 (£50 if the hard drive also needs replacing). Since Microsoft can fix this quicker and cheaper than me, I find their £236.40 quote to be completely unreasonable; even when factoring in labour costs this is
still outrageously overpriced.

I know Microsoft must be aware of the issues (due to the number of people experiencing them), so I have to question why they aren’t acknowledging or doing anything about them. This is something I wanted to ask Microsoft directly but their online chat and
phone calls aren’t available for these types of issues. I suspect, however, that the answer is probably related to one or more of the following reasons:

1. If they acknowledge the issues, they may have to offer free repairs (since it’s caused by a flaw in design rather than misuse or wear and tear)
2. They don’t want the public to know the console has issues (could put people off buying Series X)
3. They can make more money this way by charging a premium price for cheap repairs
4. They simply just don’t care

I would love to hear from people who have experienced similar issues as me as well as get your thoughts on why Microsoft hasn't acknowledged these issues with the Xbox One X.
