    Microsoft's false advertising?!

On the Xbox One dashboard there is an advert offering Xbox Live Gold for a year which includes two games. We purchased this but did not get the games free.

We spoke to the support team on Saturday and spent over 4 hours on the matter. He initially informed me that it was a problem with my Xbox so I had to power cycle it. Then he wanted me to delete my profile and games, then reinstall. None of this worked,
so he suggested buying the games and said they would be free. Unfortunately I was charged full price for the 'free' games. In the end he said it wasn't possible to purchase through the Xbox One dashboard and it had to come from the Microsoft store. I'm not
sure how or why but they were out of stock of Xbox Live memberships and two free games. So I was then told I needed to buy from HMV or Amazon, except he had already gone through the terms and conditions and these weren't meeting the requirements. In the end
    we were refunded for everything.

Yesterday the advert reappeared on the Xbox One so I looked at the t&c's and it says you can buy online through the dashboard. Once again we didn't get the games and after 3 hours were told they would contact us when we could have the games. They came up
with all sorts of nonsense about the games coming once a month at certain times - but the advert clearly states you get the games FREE and doesn't say about a set date to receive them

Anyone else had this problem? If so how did you resolve it?

PS. I'm based in Hong Kong

    :)

Let's hope the new X1 rating system is as good as Microsoft claim, so we're not penalised for false ratings.

  3. So exactly what will be the point to having an xbox one if all major exclusives are on pc?..

It is worth pointing out smiles that AVG is notorious for false positives, in that it flags things as viruses that aren't. You'd be better of with Avast or even Microsoft's own Security Essentials. In twenty years of having a PC I've never been infected
    with a virus.

What were the games? Are you able to post a screen shot of the offer? Was it possibly for the Games With Gold program that offers free games every month to Gold membership holders?
