Classic Microsoft. I don't touch my Xbox One, but a few months ago I paid for a month of Xbox Live, with an automatic subscription of course to play with friends (that lasted all of two nights). I put it under a debit card I rarely use without a balance
so I wasn't worried about it. Instead of turning off auto-renewal or just suspending my service Microsoft continues it and lo and behold I deposited money in my account and went to cancel Xbox Live before it would renew itself and it wouldn't let me because
apparently I've been debited two months service (LOL). So I get charged $30. Nice one Microsoft. Thanks for taking the liberty to act as a creditor. I'm going to sell my Xbox. I don't need to deal with malicious practices - not that I use it anyways.

Error Code 8012271F when trying to purchase items on Xbox Marketplace...

I updated my adress on my Microsoft's billing site and it worked! Thanks pbot90

It's not up to them to keep up with your money. It's up to you to turn of auto-renewal if you don't want them to charge you.

Is there any possible way to manually disable auto-renewal? There was definitely an option before I signed up for Gold.

So if everything is laid out for you in the XBL Terms of Service about the auto renew, where does the unfair billing practices come into play?

You do know all this was listed in the terms & conditions you agreed too before signing up including auto renewal, keeping your payment details up to date and how to go about cancelling the service right? The system wasn't to know you wanted to stop using
the service as you hadn't told it that you wanted to stop hence it trying to charge you.

Am I sympathetic that you're on welfare? Yes but if this has renewing for months now how have you only just noticed?
