    My 360 wireless receiver worked before windows updated, now when it is plugged in with windows 10 it no longer illuminates, the driver is also missing.

    Your update caused many many bugs, I was no longer able to open windows that I had shrunk

    Cortana no longer worked, search no longer worked, the windows icon was impossible to open, I had to perform a system restore.

    This fixed all bugs but for the receiver, please help to get it working agin

    By "latest version of the adapter", you mean
    this adapter    , then this will not work with Xbox 360 controllers. This one is only designed for Xbox One controllers.

    Microsoft doesn't seem to sell the 360 wireless receiver anymore, but you can
    get it here from Amazon    .

    For the 360 wireless receiver, yes, that is all you need to hook up your 360 controller to the PC. Press the sync button on both the adapter and controller, it should connect without a problem and be instantly recognized by your Windows 7 system.

    Controller don't work anymore after a firmware update

    Hello,

    a few days ago I made a firmware update for my Xbox One Controller with the Xbox Accessor App for Windows 10. Since then the controller connect with the wireless Adapter for USB but will not recognized by Windows. When I connect the controller with the USB cable
    it will recognized but the analog sticks and the two anlog shoulder triggers wont work

    Actually thats not entirely true, broadcast game is avaiable but requires a Windows 10 pc and an Xbox 360 reciever (USB) and Xbox 360 wireless Racing wheel

    which wireless receiver are you using?

    The 360 controller needs a USB radio for the PC to use it and if that radio is not working then check if it is damaged. The radio is recognized by windows 10 fine, I have one made by Microsoft

    sorry to hear. First of all the 360 controller only works with USB-cable on Windows 10 computer. For the wireless mode you need a

    speciall wireless adapter and a extra driver    . And second as far as I know, sorry some XBOX ONE GAMES do not recognize the 360 Controller.

    As schnurren already mentioned, the Play & Charge kit only provides power to the controller. No actual input data is transmitted via the Play & Charge cable.

    You will need the
    Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver    , and Windows 10 will automatically download the necessary drivers from Windows Update.

    DO NOT confuse the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Reciever with the newer Xbox One Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows 10!! The black USB plug receiver that looks like a big USB flash drive won't work with the Xbox 360 controller. You will need the slightly
    oval shaped Wireless Gaming Receiver that connects to an USB port via cable.

    Alternatively, instead of
    buying that Wireless Gaming Receiver    , you could as well
    buy a Xbox One controller     from that money, and connect that controller with a standard Micro USB cable or via Bluetooth (if supported by your PC).

    The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.
