    Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows not working


    Hi

    My wireless receiver used to work but now when i plug it in the green light does not come on.

    If I press the button the green light will start flashing and look for a signal but as soon as it finds a controller it switches off again.

    My computer does not make a sound when i plug the device in and does not show any signs of the device working, but is providing power to it because of the flashing light that only comes on when i press the button.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    You must get the
    adapter specifically made     for Xbox 360 controllers.

    The Xbox Wireless Adapter you've bought is not backward compatible with 360 controllers.

    Here is one on Amazon, for example (they don't sell it on the Microsoft store anymore).

    By "latest version of the adapter", you mean
    this adapter    , then this will not work with Xbox 360 controllers. This one is only designed for Xbox One controllers.

    Microsoft doesn't seem to sell the 360 wireless receiver anymore, but you can
    get it here from Amazon    .

    For the 360 wireless receiver, yes, that is all you need to hook up your 360 controller to the PC. Press the sync button on both the adapter and controller, it should connect without a problem and be instantly recognized by your Windows 7 system.

    If this is an Xbox 360 controller I believe you might need a specific Wireless Gaming Receiver. I bought one years ago and it worked well.

    Windows 10 + XBOX 360 Wireless Adapter / Controller don't work anymore

    I don't own an xbox. I just use the XBOX 360 Wireless Controllers with the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. On toher devices (without OS Windows 10) it's working.

    I followed this instruction (sadly in german, can't find the english one, but it was the same):
