Microsoft X Box Naming Convention

Discus and support Microsoft X Box Naming Convention in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; Hi there, first time posting on this forum. Someone might have already said this and rightly so.     Microsoft X Box Naming Convention


    Hi there,

    first time posting on this forum.

    Someone might have already said this and rightly so.

    I think Microsoft needs to change their naming convention of future X Box releases.

    I liked the X Box 360, then it went to X Box One, then One S then One X, then Series S, then Series X. To be honest I got lost after X Box One, I had to look it up!

    I really do think Microsoft needs to look into a catchier name for their next release. Only hardcore gamers will know the next major release name, but the average public and the kids are just getting lost with the naming conventions.

    Adding a One S/X is just a Sega mega CD/32X and Wii U mistake, then Series X, sounds like a CPU/GPU. Sega got lost on me after the Mega Drive/Genesis, the Mega Cd then 32X then Saturn were released far too quick within just a few years and the add-ons and naming convention lost me, same with the Wii/Wii U. Shame as the Dreamcast was a really good console, and the Wii U had so much potential, it's just Nintendo always seems like a Gen behind, but the Switch with just slightly better tech of the Tegra X1, should have been the newer model, but hey it's dear and they pulled it off anyway looking at the hardware sales, so they have a great hybrid console as the name connects with the device. But I doubt their next hybrid will do the same, maybe their one after (as long as they name it right lol)

    If Microsoft want kids and the average joe public to catch on, they HAVE TO make sure they know it is the NEXT model, not an add on to the current model, a slight upgrade, or some accessory etc.

    Names that show a shift to the future. Something like X Box Ultra, simple and don't know why Nintendo never used Ultra after the Super Nintendo, 64 was fine, but could have done even better.

    X Box Vortex, as it is powerful and pulls you in to play it? X Box Xtreme, well it says it all in the name really, so many names to come up with, but Series X? It's NOT a car!

    I REALLY liked the direction the X Box was going from 360, then X Box One, was hmm ok I suppose, but it seemed like it was starting again? 360, One, I understand no 720, but One, then One X/S, then Series S/X? Oops.

    Come on, catchy name, catchy sales!

    The X Box controllers do really well with PC compatibility, I will give them that, such a well-designed controller. Not a fan of too many buttons (Nintendo I'm looking at you in the past!)

    So, this is my only gripe with X Box consoles, the naming convention. The PlayStation does well, why? PS1/2/3/4/5...it's THAT simple!

    The kids, average joe knows it's the NEXT console, so asks for it or picks it up, as they know what they are getting, the next version.

    So, for the next X Box, give it a catchy name, that says hey, I'm the next new and improved X Box, that is far better than the rest and worth picking up asap!

    I do not know exactly how Xbox go about the naming process but most major corporations will emply an external market research company to conduct research on product names etc (I've taken part in my share of product naming surveys/polls in the past)

    The problem with coming up with a name to indicate it's the best ever etc is the naming of the one after that....What would you call the next Xbox after Extreme, for example?

    The one area where I agree is that it needed a different name.....too many people bought the One X thinking it was the next-gen one because of the X. The fact no-one considered that people might get confused was amazing.

    Well, sincerely this depends on the marketing team. So there is no way to know what is going to be the name for the next Xbox console.

    We may need to wait, maybe the team create something interesting.

    But I personally like the Series X/S brand

    You suggest Microsoft should name their next console the XBOX Ultra, but what after that? maybe XBOX Ultra Vortex? after that? Xbox Ultra Vortex Mega?

    Giving any console a "name" as opposed to a number is always problematic, however Microsoft chose to name the consoles as they did and nothing, we say will change things.

    Which was a key moment during the XBOne reveal. Why show it when they couldn't deliver it ? Why talk about the name X Box One, one box for all your needs. If I'm not mistaken that's how they sold the concept or should that be product ? Maybe Microsoft should
    of called it the X Box Evolution. As one day it will either evolve into what Microsoft want it to be, or maybe not, time will tell.
