Microsoft Wireless Headset

I have my headset attached to my xbox and my PC via bluetooth and am running windows 10. When I do anything on the PC related to voice such as a discord call, clicking on the recording options in my sounds, etc it mutes all other sounds on the PC as If I am in a personal cell phone call. On the xbox there is an option on the headset to don't reduce in game audio for incoming bluetooth calls. How do I stop this from happening on the PC as well?

This still does not stop the sound from being muted when in a call. Is it not possible to be in a discord call on the PC and hear in game sounds while using this headset?

Hey there,

After trying it out myself, it's not the specific headset that is giving you trouble, it's your sound settings. You'll need to disable other audio playback drivers, devices or set the one you want to hear from (Assuming it's the Xbox Wireless Headset) as your default device.

On your taskbar, right-click the Volume button and select Sounds
On the pop-up window, click on the Playback
Click on your Xbox Wireless Headset (or whichever headset you prefer to use) and there should be a button that says Set Default.

You should be able to hear both the game and your discord call, but you'll have to manually mess with the different volumes from each app (which is where EarTrumpet is useful).

If setting it as default doesn't work, you can right click the other devices that you are not using and select Disable.

Unfortunately, there is no feature similar to the one in the Xbox console. You will have manually regulate the volume of each app.

There is an app called EarTrumpet which can probably help regulate all your audio easily from the taskbar.

100% agree. I have a nice sound system for my gaming audio. I want a nice wireless headset for my chat as well. It's a shame Microsoft no longer makes a wireless headset.

I'm experiencing the same issues. The problem isn't the wireless adapter. It's the implementation of spacial sounds and atmos in general.

I know it's not wireless because i still have the same exact issues when using the headset hard-wired (using a 20' USB-A to USB-C adapter. I have no wireless adapter connected so it's not an issue of me thinking it's wired when it's actually wireless).

Disabling spacial sounds in the settings makes the sound better, but not good. This headset works flawlessly on my Xbox One X, so I know the hardware itself works.

I believe it's a driver issue and compatability issue with surround sound in general that cause problems.
