Microsoft Will Not Remove Xbox GamerTag off Microsoft Account

Title says it all, and I know there is a way to do it.

Xbox support and links arn't going to help me here boys.

I would like an actual Microsoft Director or supervisor to help me with this one.

The drones at customer service have no idea what they are doing and are lying and providing me with misleading information.

All I want is to remove my gamer tag (that I've never played on) from this Microsoft account.

Don't tell me it's possible, I'm sure you just have to flip a switch if you're high enough in the food chain.

    :)

Ran into an issue with backwards compatible games. (Please Help.)

Your old gamertag is in the xbox 360 cache you have to go to settings and remove the linked account before you can add the new one. This happened to me 2 when i changed the lame tag microsoft assigned me. Even if you put the correct information and passcodes ot wont download your new gamertag until you remove the old linked account

Microsoft Will Not Remove Xbox GamerTag off Microsoft Account

You would have to continue trying to work with support to see if they can get you in touch with someone higher up (these are community based forums so we are just gamers here). But generally there is no way to completely delete an Xbox account once it has
    been created.

you cannot change the ms account

You can only change the gamer tag to free it up and wait for it to be free again to reuse

As smuwtches mentioned you cannot delete any account

    Managers and supervisors.arenonly available.on the call.center

There is no way to bypass the set priceedures

The thing is, that back then, when the Xbox Marketplace was made for the 360, they probably didn't plan things with the future in mind as much.

I'm no Microsoft employee, so this is mostly speculation, but since the Gamertag (in conjunction with your Microsoft Account email) is used to make financial transactions (i.e. buying games, addons and gamerpics) that are tax relevant, you can't simply remove
    a Gamertag from an account.

You can MOVE a Gamertag to a different account.

Back then on the Xbox 360 you could really simply move your Gamertag from one account to another.

However, a few years ago, that process was changed in such a way, that when you now move the Gamertag to a new account, the old Microsoft Account gets deleted.

So, no, you can't simply flip a switch, and while it is possible, it comes with several drawbacks.

If you are willing to take the risk, you can
    sign into your Microsoft Account
, and change the sign in alias.

Make the other email your primary sign in alias, and then remove your old Microsoft Account email.

Your Gamertag is now moved from your old email to the new one, and the old Microsoft Account deleted.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Here's the thing about that, the feature still exists on Xbox 360.

The option is still there to change an Xbox live profile to another account, except Microsoft has disabled the feature and it now shows an error. Sure the drones at Microsoft support can not accomplish the task but I gurentee it is as simple as flipping
    the feature back on.

Show me whatever privacy forum to sign, I'd do it.

I created my account with no personal info, no financial transactions nothing its sitting there empty on my account, and I want it gone.

I know it's as simple as hitting a big red delete button, they just refuse to do it.

I've heard the alias work around at least 20 times and I do not wish to hear it again.

Microsoft hasn't "disabled" the feature like "turning it off, just because". Since the Xbox 360 was made, a lot of design changes happened with the Xbox Live infrastructure as well as the Microsoft Account infrastructure. For the same reason, the original
Xbox can't connect to Xbox Live at all, for example. It's not that they flipped a switch that said "Xbox access off". It's that they added a lot more features to the Xbox Live network protocol, that the Xbox wouldn't be able to "understand" what the service
    is telling the console.

It's like saying "As a kid, there was a shortcut I took to get to school through a backyard. But then Microsoft built a giant evil scientist factory building with acid vats and stomping machinery on that lot, and surrounded it with a fence. Now that they
put a padlock on that fenced gate, I can't get through. All they need is to unlock that gate". And if you were to take the same route as before crossing through that factory building, you'd be stomped and shoved into a vat of acid on your way to school.

I know this analogy is not perfect. But it's not that Microsoft just turned the feature off, because they don't like you. The way they changed how Microsoft Accounts work, doesn't seem to work with the way the Xbox 360 interacted with the service before.

Maybe if you explained your reason for the Gamertag removal, I could try to find a better solution than just wanting to "remove" it.

Since the Gamertag doesn't cost money and only show up when using Xbox related services, it shouldn't be a bother to have it attached to your account. Unless you have a reason besides "But I don't want it to be so. I want it done MY way only."

    Hi, Thanks for the reply.

So the feature is essentially disabled, I understand what you're saying when you say they have added more features to the account or "built a factory" on it, however it doesn't change the logic of what I know Microsoft can do.

It really isn't rocket science to remove an Xbox Live account from a Microsoft profile, you're acting as if there is highly sensitive data on my account when there really isn't any at all. Like I've previously stated, there is nothing on the account, and
whatever waiver has to be signed to get the account removed, I will do so.

I know that you personally don't know how to do this, and that's ok, but it can be done, like it has been in the past. Microsoft had it as a feature before and for whatever reason they did disable it. Many players have had this issue of wanting to transfer
or delete accounts and Microsoft just refused to do so. I'm not asking for an account termination, I just want this Xbox Live account dis associated with my Microsoft account.

It's like saying "The evil factory stands in my path, however I'm going to jump the fence and walk the perimeter of the fence to get to my destination"

At this point in time what you are asking for simply isn't possible. If there is no important information in the account as you say, why are we even discussing it. You can change the email address, or create an alias etc. Microsoft services that become linked,
whether it's Xbox Live or Skype become a part of the Microsoft account and as such are not as easily seperated as they once were. The same could be said about Google, if you stop using Google Drive it doesn't cease to exist nor can it be separated from the
Umbrella as a whole. It just lies dormant if you will. Myquestion to you is why does it matter? What is your actyal reason for wanting it done, I mean there must be a reason, perhaps we can accomplish your goal in a different way??
