    Microsoft, why will you not allow me to cancel my Xbox Live subscription?


    I want to cancel my Xbox Live Gold subscription, but Microsoft seem unwilling to allow this.

    I tried to cancel it on the website, and was greeted by this unexplained error:

    I then attempted to request a call-back from support and was unable to complete the request because the "submit" button is greyed out:

    Then I attempted to use the web chat support and was greeted by this:

    I really cannot afford to call the number... Come on, Microsoft. This just isn't good enough. Do not make me have to go to the lengths of telling my bank to not give you money...

    Please help! site will not allow me to discontinue payment!

    Microsoft NEVER allow anyone to cancel auto renew via the xbox website. YOU MUST contact support and cancel it over the phone so they can have a customer services rep try to convince you not to cancel.

    @ Moz - Trust me, for anyone that lives in the UK cancelling via the account options on the xbox website DOES NOT WORK

    Cancelling xbox live account and points

    I am trying to cancel my Microsoft Live account but it will not let me until I can cancel my Xbox live gold points. I want to delete both accounts however there is no option at all to cancel an xbox live account in order to cancel the Microsoft Live account.
    Does anyone know how to do this?

    You will have to phone support. Phone number for the U.K. is 0800 587 1102 so it's a free number to call.

    If you call 1-800-4MY-XBOX (or the one stated by Daft if UK) they should be able to clear this up. Or you can talk to your bank directly and tell them to stop paying Microsoft.

    Try calling Microsoft before calling your bank, i'm should be able to settle this with Microsoft more easily than with your bank.

    I wouldn't suggest contacting the bank. If a payment is stopped then they'll consider your Gold unpaid and suspend the account for nonpayment.

    If you call 1-800-4MY-XBOX (or the one stated by Daft if UK) they should be able to clear this up. Or you can talk to your bank directly and tell them to stop paying Microsoft.

    Try calling Microsoft before calling your bank, i'm should be able to settle this with Microsoft more easily than with your bank.
