Microsoft... why did you kill the blu ray player?

ever since the update was downloaded to my xbox the blu ray no longer works

Microsoft... you need to really spend time researching stuff before releasing worthless updates that kill the blu ray drive.

I don't know why they are putting in Blu Ray? Who uses Blu Ray anymore? Also, if it's going to be that thin/compact/small then how could it possibly fit a Blu Ray drive in it?

Well from Microsofts perspective I can see why it was discussed. By carrying Blu Ray they are supporting Sony since Blu Ray is a Sony Property. I beleive So for every Xone sold because it now has a Blu Ray Disc drive.

what exactly happens when you try a bluray disc?

Does it not recognize the disc, or does it make a grinding sound?

Does it happens with all type of discs like Game, Bluray Movie, DVD Movie?

A little more information may help to determine the cause and possible next steps for this issue.

 

last night it was still able to play regular dvds (movies) but it won't read game discs or blu rays anymore. the update hopelessly corrupted that. I've done what the forums suggestions said and it didn't work. I also uninstalled and reinstalled that didn't
work. when the disc comes out and is out the player makes a short grinding sound and then stops after a few seconds. but the disc player is working because I can play dvds in it. its the coding that no longer works

 

im having the same issue. this is ridiculous. just got the thing not even 2 days ago and I can't play anything. absolutely unaceptable

 

Ok, since you mentioned that you've already tried all trouble shooting steps, which I'm assuming also includes a power cycle, the only thing left to do is to contact Xbox Support via
support.xbox.com/contact-us to see if they have any additional steps to try.
