microsoft... what the heck are you thinking?

so they remove the option to have seperate controller configurations that i can make and save and switch on the fly..... why? why is it better to have to manually switch everything everytime i want to play something different. how do i remove an update and
go back to the old sensible version?

When you signed up for xbox live you agreed to abide by these rules and to the consequences that come with them

You guys changed my gamertag that i literally just paid for. You didnt properly notify me! AND WORST OF ALL YOU WANT ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT CHANGE IT AFTER I JUST PAID! i am disappointed fix my problem now

 

Hey there, Tyrannical!

I'm sorry to see any frustrations with button mapping! The controller configuration has been set up where only Elite controllers have the ability to switch between two different settings because of the switch at the bottom of it since the Elite controller
was released; this function has not been available for the standard controllers. There are some games in which you can change the configuration per character (like Overwatch), however this wouldn't be the same as the built in functionality with the Accessories
App.

Are you having issues with it not switching on the Elite controller? If so, is the controller simply not switching between your configurations when you hit the switch on it? I suggest first trying to restore defaults for those and then setting them up again.
Let me know how this goes if it's the case.

Yes... i have an elite controller. the thing im talking about has nothing to do with the controller itself. when you go to the button mapping menu it no longer allows you to save button configurations that you can tweak and switch on the fly...... why lol??
i play more then 2 games so im constantly having to go into my controls and manually switch layouts button by button instead of just clicking my Dark souls 3 layout or Ark, or Smite, or Elder scrolls and applying it. A huge quality of life feature was just
simply removed.

I only have my xbox and it only allows me to capture footage of games.

 

Yeah none of my friends have that feature either. Noone ive talked to can create xbox button layouts and swap them like you could before the update.

We were able to set multiple configurations (we did up to 4 configurations) and were able to assign and switch them as expected. At this time, I'm going to suggest you do a

full factory reset on your console (including games & apps, since this is an app issue you are having). You will want to tell your friends to do the same.

Please let me know if that ends up letting you have multiple configurations saved! If it doesn't, using a phone or camera to record what is happening will help us out a lot in the long run to make sure we're doing exactly what you are doing.

Found the old interface for button layouts. Its not under button mapping anymore its under kinect and accessories. Idk why.

 

After the factory restart, the sound on my xbox completely broke. At first i could watch media and talk in party chat and id be completely fine until i hit the xbox menu, then id lose sound completely or just get some super loud buzzing/ringing while losing
game and chat sound. I did a hard xbox restart and now im just losing sound and getting the buzzing randomly.

 

I'm sorry to see that issue crop up for you after the factory reset! The buzzing - Does that sound kind of like audio distortion when you switch apps too quickly? Like the audio is just stuttering and then catches up? And does this happen both through your
TV and through your headset when you're in party chat? The sound loss is interesting and I haven't seen that yet. If you haven't yet, make sure your connections are secure for your headset and HDMI cable from your TV to the Xbox One. I've experienced the sound
distortion myself, however it's random, doesn't seem to impact anything other than the sound, and is just annoying more than anything else for me.

Out of curiosity, what were you using for the configurations before finding the settings under Kinect & accessories? If you give me the navigation path, I'll be able to look into if it's a confusion point for others and see if we can get that worked on.

It used to be under ease of access > controller > button mapping, which makes alot more sense imo but aslong as i know where it is idc if they move it to the network settings next.

 

Aha! Thanks for the clarification on that. With this update, there were a few things moved around due to more accessibility adjustments, and this was moved along it. I am sorry that I didn't clarify that, but happy to see it's all sorted now.

Are you still experiencing the audio distortions? Are they as I described? Let me know if you still want to work on that or if it's resolved itself.
