The problem I see is that Microsoft has been very vague on just about everything concerning Tech in the console, and showing what their Azure Cloud computing can do for their games... That kind of "All Talk, and no action" really doesn't get a vote of confidence.
It's like Microsoft is thinking lets "Say and Pray" lol

Microsoft have several new IPs coming, infact they are investing 1 Billion into new IPs, that's a lot of money to invest, that is several blockbuster movies equivalent... I think it's not going to be quantity with Microsoft but quality.

Making us pay for the game twice is ridiculous.

Many
times, the team that builds a game for one platform does not build it for another platform. It's not ridiculous for a publisher to want to be paid separately for the work done on the Xbox One version and the work done on the 360 version.

Sony has cross play on PSN. To date, AAA titles don't get cross play treatment, only indies. While Unity may have a write once, publish everywhere button, AAA titles usually cannot be so easily ported between generations.

It goes beyond hardware as well, though. Sony and Microsoft have licensing rights to the most respected AAA franchises, so Amazon would either have to negotiate with established publishers for licensing rights or develop their own AAA titles. Any brand new
console that wasn't just a PC platform would probably have to start by building indie cred as a brand; releasing indie titles that could really grab some attention but shying away from AAA titles, then maybe in its next console generation building up from
there.

The reason that Sony and Microsoft are so big now is either because they got into the home gaming market early and have been responsible for shaping it into what we know today, or in the case of Microsoft, because they made massive investments to break in.
Microsoft started from scratch after the market was already very large, and it cost them a lot of money. That is a massive commitment for a company to make.
