    After 7 years as a loyal xbox live member, and more as an xbox owner, I am EXTREMELY frustrated with the way in which microsoft has seen fit to handle an issue. I was notified in an email last evening that my gamertag was deemed inappropriate. While I
    don't believe that it was, I'm not frustrated in the least by this. What angers me is that it was changed by microsoft, without WARNING or MY CONSENT. predictably, my new gamertag is something terrible. Microsoft now demands that I pay them $9.99 to change
    it. I should have been allowed the opportunity to correct the situation myself. I certainly believe that I should be allowed to change my gamertag now at no cost to me. I'm more than happy to comply with microsoft's ever changing code of conduct, but I
    refuse to pay what amounts to an arbitrary fine.

    I called in to customer service today 9/3/14 and spoke with a supervisor, Doug, call reference number [Mod removed]. He refused to transfer my call, or pass on any method of communication to anyone who could help rectify this situation. He was not in any
    way rude, just handcuffed by his inability from corporate to do anything that could in any way help to resolve this issue. He said my only outlet was this new forum, which means my anger will surely go unanswered, as this thread will float of into space ignored
    by microsoft.

    I feel incredibly disrespected by a company to which I have been very loyal. Oddly enough, today I received the xbox one and peripheries in the mail that I recently ordered from Amazon. As they sit in my living room unopened, I can't imagine continuing to
    do business with a company who has so little respect for its patrons. Though I don't want to, at this point I feel my only recourse is to return all of my purchases (which will cost far more than $9.99, but angers me to waste FAR less), cancel my xbox live
    subscription, and to take my business to Playstation. I humbly submit that microsoft strongly consider that part of the reason they are lagging in the console wars is poor customer service. I mean that not in a get a hold of somebody 24/7 sense, but more
    in an actually caring for the treatment and experience of your users way.

    Are you sure it was taken off of GP access? I can't open it either. That would be pretty damn weak if it was removed already. I'll probably cancel my GP subscription is this is the case.

    When dealing with support and you feel you getting no where. Ask for issue too be escslated too the advocacy team . Microsoft have been cracking down on gt they find offensives. Problem arises is what one person takes offense too other don't.. Not sure if

    You did not like the new one so, a Fee will be required to change it.

    As mentioned,the ToC & CoC that you agreed to when you started your account were your warning & when you agreed to them you gave Microsoft permission to change your tag if it is found to be against the rules.

    Phone support have nothing at all to do with xbox live enforcement so there is nothing they could do.

    I'm really not upset about the actual changing of the gamertag. Although I certainly don't think it was inappropriate, and it seemed to be fine for the previous 5+ years I had it, I would have been more than willing to work microsoft in compliance with
    the coc. My issues are mainly with microsoft's bully tactics and snarky attitude.

    Thanks for pointing me in what will hopefully be a better direction daft badger.

  9. This is a story that has been repeated many times over the years. Without knowing what your original GT was no further comments can really be made in relation to this subject. Just learn to live with the consequences of your own actions.

    There are no bully tactics I mean you interoperate way too much into this.

    No one billies you or has an attitude against you.

    You broke the CoC and the Xbox Community reports your tag for it.

    This can be 5 min after you made it or 5 years later, does not matter.

    .

    IF Xbox would take all the time in the world for everyone like you who broke the rules,

    we would lack of a premium service.

    .

    They all would be busy with explaining the rules on their private network.

    I mean it´s their network I don´t know if you realized this yet.

    When you log into Xbox Live with your tag, you walk through their door into their Home.

    If you can´t follow rules that were made to keep peace in this house, you will face consequences.

    Like it or not.

    I think its disrespectful of YOU to think that YOU are the whole Xbox Community and that all has to evolve around you.

    Sorry man but that´s not the purpose of a community.

    Post the original or no sympathy from me. If you can't post it in the forums without getting stars or a report you probably shouldn't have been using it.

  14. They changed this rule a while ago when people abused the report function to get free name changes. If your name was deemed inappropriate, they'd change the name to a random generated one and you'd have to pay $10 just like any other gamertag change.

    I personally think this is a good idea, because so many people abused the system prior. Blame the idiots who cheated the system to get free name changes for making this new rule. Don't blame Microsoft for trying to stop people from cheating their system
