  3. I am happy that those who are not interested in Kinect will get a chance to buy the console without the added sensor but I just hope things stay the same and the same goals are aligned. A £300 tag sounds about right though and I can see that being a thing
    by summer term myself.

Microsoft to release Xbox One without Kinect

It's nice to see Microsoft finally gave in to user demand, but it's such a shame they didn't listen when it mattered, because lots of people like myself now will probably feel like it's a downgrade in performance if they move from the PS4 to the Xbox.

They need to make it considerably cheaper than the competition to make it even remotely worthwhile.

    @ Cloud,

I popped into my local GAME this afternoon, they have heard bundles for the Kinect less version will range from £329.99 - £349.99 to start with.

If true to me that still makes getting the version with Kinect a better option, especially as you can find console + Kinect + game for around the £370-380 range.

I think it's a shame they're going to do a Kinectless Xbox, although it was always going to happen but now it probably won't get the support it should get (if it had support anyway, where was the games for it?)

Think people can be too stubborn when it comes to something different/new and not willing to try it, I was one of the people who didn't like the Kinect and didn't want one, but after buying an xbox one I was glad it came with it.

Lofty those prices for the Kinect free bundles though are the RRP.

The RRP of the Titanfall bundle is £390.

So retailers are either going to go back to RRP for the Kinect bundles and sell the Kinect free bundles at their RRP. Or they are going to discount both types of console.

If they are discounting the Kinect bundles then why do you think they wont do the same for the Kinect free ones?

    @voteDC,

Either the Kinect free bundle will drop to £299, or it will be sold with a game or 2 for £349. The best deals it seems were like the one I got, xbox one with Kinect and 2 games, play chaqrge kit, xboxlive gold ect for less then the original RRP of £429.

Well people did try something new when they supported the original kinect, MS are solely responsible for dropping the ball with that, so it's no big surprise second time round people are unwilling to spend money again on a similar product.

Can't really blame the consumer on any level for not wanting to be forced into buy it again, once bitten twice shy and all that, but at least they have done the right thing now and made it the choice of the consumer, which is what it should have been since
day one, now they will see a turn around in sales now this albatross is gone from the console neck.

    Gamers can now rejoice.

    @ vote,

I do think they will discount them, just when people look on the sites now the standalone Xbox One doesn't look very tempting at the moment.

I was in my local GAME today, not the best place for prices lol but they seem to think the first bundles will start at £329.99.

  11. Ah I see Lofty. See my thinking is, if they drop the price of the kinectless version then they are going to have to match a good offer to the Kinect version otherwise people are just going to slam hard on the super cheap option. Retailers are going to need
to find a fair balance between the difference. I personally see it going to £299.99 and £349.99 respectively for each console version. By August.

I may be wrong but I bet you that ASDA will be the first to drop it to that.

They aren't going to tell you that they'll be discounting stuff before it is released, not when they have stock already sitting on their shelves.

  14. I'm fairly pleased with the stripping of Kinect.

I have no use for it given day to day issues so never really felt happy 'needing' to pay for an item I would never plug in.

Thinking on, especially after watching Kinect sports on outside xbox, it looked just as dire as previous incarnations of the device. Maybe when kids are running about the house.

But I was hanging on buying until Alien iso is released as its the only game that has really stood out (so far it look cool eh, fingers crossed) for me.

So by release a 300tag doesn't seem too unreal. 329 is a good start though.

@Lofty. yeah I guess prices could be kept down if it was digital only, hope not though I like the discs on my shelf, more to dust Microsoft to release Xbox One without Kinect :p.

Edit: Yep Wolfenstein is looking tasty too Microsoft to release Xbox One without Kinect :D.

  15. I really hate MS for the way they marketed the X1 and feel cheated. Bought the console full price just after Christmas, later to find out that 6 months later it's being sold for £349 bundled with games and now they're saying that kinect is not required to
use the console. Well done Microsoft for cheating customers. Saving money for PS4
