Microsoft to acquire Mojang?

WSJ is reporting it. If WSJ is reporting it, it's all but confirmed to be true. Notch seems to want out. Now is a good time (he hasn't been lead on Minecraft for a while).

 

I agree Doc they should buy CAPCOM would be worth more and lots of IPS.

 

I hear ya ZTROOPER16, although Capcom would be great (Highly Unlikely) There are other studios who have worked with Microsoft Studios to make a game exclusive. CryTek (is in need of help, MS could help with that), and the studio you were talking about
above (Quantum Break creators, who also made Alan Wake) Remedy studios would be a great acquisition.

I am not opposed to this at all. But I do not believe Mojang is worth that much.

 

For 2 billion they could buy all of them Crytek only good for their cryengie but i think EA would buy Cryteck cause they pub their games for them. But Remedy need to be bought. I think Remedy said that they dont want to be own by any one they want to be
a free dev. But if MS shows them the $ they always change their mind. CAPCOM I do agree Highly unlikey but would be a HUGE WIN for MS. Reboot MEGA MAN and them older games. Heck for 2 bliion they could of bought the guys who make Tomb raider.

 

Microsoft should spend their money more wisely....I hope that's only a rumor and stay that way.

 

Tzar of kaos, I hear you there. But we do need more exclusive studios. And I just looked up to confirm, Mojang's revenue is slightly over 2 billion. That is crazy.

 

MS has 87 Billion USD to spend 2 billion not alot to them. Also for the people who keep sayign the should spend that money and frist partys they already did reamber back at E3 2013 were they said they spent 1 billion on Xbox games. And just last mouth 5
new game dev were found that MS owns. After all guys we are talking about MS here.

 

Better to buy a dev studio at a lower price but with more strong IPs.....

Mojang makes money but only got one major IP.

Also,Microsoft and Xbox doesn't really needs more dev studios or IPs.

When i look at what they got it's already impressive.....and i'm please with that.

 

Tzar you do not think that Xbox needs more Dev studios? Or IP's? I am perplexed by that.

Lionhead is awesome

343 Proved they can handle Halo well. (In my opinion Halo 4 was the best in the saga)

Turn 10 is awesome (Forza is by acclimation the best racing sim)

Black Tusk is unproven. But they have a solid formula to start with.

Team Dakota is unproven. But I really look forward to Project Spark

In my opinion we need a couple more new exclusive Dev studio's. Whether it is Mojang (to me Mojang is a one hit wonder) or someone else.

Buying IP's as exclusive or timed exclusive is awesome. But lends little credibility as to Xbox's creative integrity.

 

Doc MS own more DEVs than that.

There are more dev studios that the ones you named.Don't remember them all but Rare is another one.

If you think Xbox needs more devs studios,more IPs,more exclusives,maybe you bought your console without asking yourself why you bought it.....

Halo,Forza,Fable,Killer Instinct,Crackdown ,Gears of war, plus some 2nd party games,it's enough for me....My life and my free time are limited.I won't be able to play them all,anyway.

Also,i don't see to have Mojang as an exclusive dev really add for you.

When Microsoft bough Gears of war IP that was a smart move because Epic didn't really want to make another Gears...

The only funny thing that see,if it's happen,is that Microsoft will get money from Minecraft players on Playstation....

I bought my Xbox because of the Xbox experience as a whole (Brand, Xbox Live, Community) and in my opinion their exclusive games are better than the opposition. Some of my favorite games of all time are on Xbox. Fable series, Halo Saga, Gears of War Trilogy,
and Crackdown is awesome.

Also, as I told ZTROOPER16 above, you are right there are more exclusive Dev's than what I posted above. What I posted above was just their AAA Games developers.

And I agree regarding Mojang and your view on that.
