    MICROSOFT TITLE TRADE-IN PROGRAM

To put digital into perspective...I bought Green Day s "Holiday" video and needed to download it again; I can't as the ownership license has changed. The video is still for sale (albeit slightly modified), though I don't own a license for "that" one. You
    have limited rights with digital.

With physical I can "own" forever and not worry about license ownership changes, companies going out of business, or shutting down servers. At the very least I can use my discs for coasters to keep water rings of my furniture. Digital can be taken away for
many reasons and has no use other than what they tell you it can be used for.

My two cents, Omar Y. Kittlepop

@HairyLoveSpuds, i don't think you're wrong, keeping the policies would have most likely spelled doom for the brand, bet most of it would have been because of click bait "video game" journalist and the people who have a hard time forming an opinion for themselves.

but, it is what it is, i'm happy the Xbox brand is doing well, i can't wait to see what Xbox brings to the table for E3, and counting the days until Quantum Break hit the streets in about a year.

You just have to go with the best deal at the time ..or ...wait a bit .

M/s is not in the business of being a market trader for second hand games .

If you want £12 , for a game you bought for £49 , 7 weeks ago ... it is up to you to sell it .

  4. MICROSOFT TITLE TRADE-IN PROGRAM

When someone is selling their game, be it physical or digital. The only factor most people will take in to consideration will be, how quick they can sell the game so they can get a new one. So being cheaper than the
competition, be it another seller or the marketplace will the main goal.

In the end, 1 person will go 1p or 1cent lower than the lowest person on there, so they can sell their game, and the next will do the same, until you have a spiral effect, and the game is practically worth nothing.

This could be good in one way, as it will drop digital prices quicker, but bad for publishers, as they will not see any more revenue once the first digital 2nd hand sale go onine

I disagree. The price of a game isn't so excessive that I'd feel the need to sell a game just to pay for a new one. I may want to sell a game in order to lessen the price of a
new one, simply because I won't be playing it anymore... but I've never once, in all the games I've sold or traded, even thought about what 'the competition' is selling/trading their [same] game(s) for. I know what minimum price I'm willing to accept for my
used game, for w/e reasons and I don't care who else has one for cheaper.

I might be persuaded to be a little competitive if there are a lot of other people selling at the same time and I might even use 'average' prices as a base for mine... but I most
certainly won't go below what I feel is a fair price, regardless of who is a penny cheaper. If I don't sell it... so be it. That isn't going to stop me from getting my next one.

In the end I'm a consumer, not a market analyst... I'm just another person who happens to enjoy gaming. I want bang for my buck. Whether or not the publisher is making out well
when I buy a game [new or used] is secondary at best. If they haven't taken used pricing into consideration when coming up with their plan, it's their fault for not having a proper business plan... not mine for being an average consumer who wants to be smart
with my money. I don't see them failing over this. If they do... welcome to capitalism.

  5. "Original Xboxone policy had all this covered. Such a shame."

I wish we could have went that route just to see. It was supposed to come later with the original policy (not right away). And without any incentive to do it later it may have never came. If there was a $$ benefit for MS or any other company I could see
it but there is no reason. With used games there is a physical item to sell. With digital they have the item and would not need yours.

This whole thing would have been left up to individual publishers. And MS would have said it was up to them. So, a publisher lets you trade in a game for $$ and are responsible for those $$. I doubt MS would cover the cost as there is not benefit for
them. And publishers would just be giving back money they made on the game.

If they implement some kind of sharing, outside of the home xbox console, I would be shocked. As I have said the $$ benefit is not there. What is the incentive. If I could loan a game I purchased to a friend who wants to play it then that friend does
not have to buy to play. Eliminating the used games and sharing games is more profitable.

"Whether or not the publisher is making out well when I buy a game [new or used] is secondary at best."

Well, for me the only reason I do care about the publisher is because gaming is my hobby. I do not have tv service and rarely stream either. And I know that without profit the games do not come. I have a good friend who really liked a particular game.
Good game but new IP that came out when some big established IP hit. And it sold ok. Most seem to believe it is a good game but they played it used/second hand style. Seems that plenty are like him and would like to see a sequel. No deal so far and it
appears, just from dev dialogue, that there will never be one. And there are others like that as well. So I can see the need to work on eliminating the used/second hand market. Which is also why I find it hard to believe they would have any reason to offer
    digital trading/sharing.

I will admit that I purchase new games no matter for game series I know I will like and want to support. Never in those instances do I buy used or trade in. But I have traded in with other games and did pretty well. Free PS4 and free Xbox One for stuff
that I could not sell (not sure why trades at Amazon and GS where so high) and would never play is a good deal.

  6. Blue. I am not saying you do. But there are quite a few people out there, that do. Buy a game, complete it, and then trade in for a new game.

I am a normal working man, with a wife, 2 kids, a mortgage, a car, insurances, and all the other taxes and bits and pieces that go with life.

Gaming is a thing i have done since the Atari 2600, when my dad would buy the games for me. Now i am older and wiser, and have purchased all my consoles and computers for myself. I go where the deal is, and if that saves me £10 a game because it is physical
then i will. The same as the majority of consumers out there. They will look for bargains and deals and offers.

Most consumers are savvy enough to shop around. If i had purchased all the (4 of them) games that i have purchased day 1 on either the Marketplace or PSN this year. I would have paid nearly £55 more than physical. So in essence, not only have i saved myself
a ton of money, i have enough for another game, if i so wanted one. And that is what most people in the end will look for.

The best deal. And the best deal for a lot of countries (America being slightly different) is still physical in all respects.

Yes Silver you can wait as long as you want for a 1 week deal. But if the Marketplace is ever to gain traction and to have an open and fair trade-in and sell system, then current prices of digital games must reflect the physical market, due to the pros and
    cons of both sides.

And again in my opinion and for myself as a gamer, the physical market will win hands down just from an ownership and resale value. I am not worried and getting up and spending 10 seconds loading a game into the drive.

  7. @HLS... sounds like common enough ground. My games, so far, are a mix of both physical and digital. It all boils down to value to each of us as a consumer. Some games I knew I would have bought, day 1, and paid full price for. Those games I have digital,
because of the convenience. The cost was the same.

I'd actually like to go all digital for the convenience aspect. I'm not much of one to go back several years to play older games anyway, so the physical 'possession is 9/10ths of the law', thus preventing one from losing access years later isn't quite as
important to me as it may be to some others.

In the end it's up to the individual, as a consumer, to decide their own 'value system'. For instance, I really wanted to try out DAI. But there were other games I was playing. I actually was just going to pass on it... but it went on 'Publisher's Special'
on the XBL store and I picked it up for ~$40.

Would it have been less if I had found a physical copy, used at a local GS? Undoubtedly. But for the convenience and the price, (the value I determined, for myself) I decided to get it.

I think many people become overly concerned with how bad things 'could get'. They see "worst case scenario" situations and think this would become status quo because everyone would follow the same path, so to speak. I don't believe that's the case.

I'm still glad MS didn't go the old route. Sharing digital games or not, they still were extremely anti consumer. No need to get into it all again just my opinion.

I'll never go all digital unless they're super cheap. I like the disc because I can do what I want with it forever and a day. That's not the case with digital.

I don't see a trade in program for digits games benefiting anyone but consumers.

  11. I think we'll eventually get to a point where we can sell and trade digital games. I don't see it happening for some time though, but we'll see it eventually.
