Microsoft wants to make the transition from Xbox One to Project Scorpio as seamless and easy as possible with a trade-in/trade-up program.

If you read the article there is only a small mention of the trade in program.

What this really means is that they are open to offer trade in deals, and promotions with their partners like they have in the past I at this moment dont believe they will have a fixed trade in/up program. However you can look forward to special promotions for transition to scorpio.

 

Original Xboxone policy had all this covered. Such a shame.

Sorry posted early by mistake ... Because you don't have a physical copy you have bought the game and yes that means you legally own it .... Personally I think its a great idea !

 

As Rippen said, this was in Xbox One's original plans. If the media and everyone else had actually LOOKED at what Ms was offering along with the DRM plans, not only would we be able to trade in our digital games, we would also be able to trade DLC add on
content too!

I was obviously one of the very few at the time that actually wanted that!

 

If microsoft retains the right too discontinue a game or service at their own accord, then my statement is very much true when specifically talking about their digital licenses.

So therefore if you buy a digital game from a company that holds this statement in their terms of service all they have to do is stop support that game and your SOL.

If you need further proof that you dont own the digital copys you buy from MS just Ask support what I should do about the videos and movies I bought digitally years ago that are no longer supported.

When asked I was told SoL but in a Somewhat nicer manner that almost makes you thank them for robbing you.

 

Oh and BtW Boozy Possesion is 9/10 th's the law. So technically if you cant touch it you dont exactly own it.

With that being said thx too that law you technically only own the receipt...lol

Well that sucks ! Mores the reason for them to then offer some sort of trade in even its for games that they are going to pull the plug on !

 

I have to agree with Vaynel, being here during the announcements and everything that went on.

No-where did they announce that digital game re-sell and trade-in was going to happen. And i don't have to dig, it is still available on the XBOX.com site.

Microsoft still hopes for Xbox One digital game trading

The ability to trade and loan digital games on Xbox One will be implemented at some point, Microsoft hopes, despite the earlier furore surrounding the console's DRM plans.

Xbox exec Albert Penello explained that Microsoft still wished to revive some of its earlier digital game sharing ideas that were dropped when the console's controversial 24-hour online check-in requirement was removed.

"We were trying to implement the ability to trade [and] loan digital games with your friends," Penello told Gamespot, "which is something that no-one else was doing. I believe, in retrospect that people have calmed down and gone back and actually looked
at what we said, people are starting to understand, 'Wow, they did want actually to allow me to loan and trade', which other digital ecosystems don't want to do.

"I think we need to do that. That has to be part of the experience. Right now, we're focused on launch and we switched the program back to discs, because that's what customers wanted."

 

"Microsoft should value the game at the 'current trade in value and in the currency' of the members resident country."

I would just like to know how they would be able to figure this out. I mean, technically, you wouldn't be trading in the game, but rather, the license to access/play the game.
