microsoft store says i havent purchased sea of thieves

i purchased sea of thieves a few years ago and played for about two years and uninstalled it for more room on my older computer but on my newer computer with more space i would like to play again, however it wants me to pay for it again to be able to redownload it, i have screenshots of my game progress on the xbox app and sea of thieves website to prove ive purchased and played this game before

To verify the ownership of your games, please review your account order history on https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders. If you couldn't find the game order there, it's possible that it's linked to your other accounts. Try to check your other accounts or email addresses on the website.

You may be correct, Krystian. I found a helpful article from Sea of Thieves Support:

"When purchasing Bundles and Ancient Coin packs for Sea of Thieves, it is important that you purchase through the correct store for the platform in which you are playing. Otherwise you may not receive the items in which you have purchased!

So this means that if you are playing on the Steam version of Sea of Thieves, then you must purchase your content through the Steam store. And likewise, if you are using the Microsoft Store or Xbox version of Sea of thieves, then you must purchase your content through the Microsoft Store."

What happens now if you go into the Store and to the Sea of Thieves page, and look at it? Does it show the option to Install again, or does it say Purchase?

By any chance, did you happen to purchase the game on the Microsoft Store? To confirm this, kindly sign in to your account on account.microsoft.com > go to Payment and Billing > then Order history.

From there, you should be able to see if the game Sea of Thieves was purchased under your Microsoft account.

Just a friendly reminder that Microsoft Xbox and Steam are two different gaming platforms. If you happen to purchase the game on the Microsoft Store, you will be able to play the game Sea of Thieves using the Xbox app.

I think it is because you are trying to download Sea of thieves instead of the anniversary edition.

Try this:

Open the Microsoft Store(No the gamepass app), then search for Sea of thieves: Anniversary Edition and try to download that.
