Microsoft Store gift code

I received a $60 Microsoft Store gift code as part of a bundle with an Xbox One. I was emailed a 9 character code from Microsoft and told to enter it "at checkout". I purchased a game from Microsoft.com and was not given the opportunity to enter the code
at any point in the purchasing process. What can the code be used for if not for games?

can you gift microsoft points?

You can gift someone by purchasing Microsoft points at the store and giving them the code, but you can't gift points on the actual xbox.

Hi there,

The code should be good on any time sold in the store.

When you go to check out and view your cart, right below your list of cart items and before the final total at the bottom, there is a link that says "Enter a promo code". When you click it a box appears so you can enter the 9 digit code you received.

Was that not the case for you?

When I purchased the game through microsoft.com, i was never give the option of checking out, or viewing my cart. The purchase happened in a modal window without an option to enter a promo code. Is it still possible to use my gift code on the purchase and
have my credit card credited for the amount charged?

When you say microsoft.com do you mean you made the purchase at microsoftstore.com or did you purchase a game digitally? The code should only work at microsoftstore.com. If you made the purchase anywhere else, it would not have worked. If you did make the
purchase through microsoftstore.com, you would need to contact their customer support to see if there is anything they can do.

Hi there,

There are 2 different stores. The 9-digit code you received will only work on
http://www.microsoftstore.com via the steps I noted above.

Xbox store (the link you noted) won't accept a 9-digit code for the Microsoft store. That's why you didn't have an option to redeem it at check out.

Thanks but i wasnt talking about an Xbox Gift Card but a Microsoft (Store) Gift Card (Microsoft Currency) since it is directly Microsoft shouldnt it work on promo-code for Dev mode payment ?

If you have enough Microsoft reward points, then you need to redeem the reward points for Xbox/Microsoft Gift Cards on the redeem page of Microsoft rewards. Then once the gift card codes have been emailed to you, then you can redeem those gift card codes on https://account.microsoft.com/billing/redeem Once you have enough money from the Xbox Gift Cards, you can then purchase Minecraft from the Microsoft Store or Xbox Store (depending on which version you want).

If you are purchasing devices like Xbox console, surface pro they are limited to being used for them.

If you will be mainly using these on an Xbox console, then the Xbox gift card is perfect.
