Microsoft Store forces me to get the XBOX App

Why is every Microsoft App running so bad and i mean every app like Excel, Word, Outlook etc. and why do they want to lose money by giving people a reason to hate them?

theres probably no one who will answer me because they dont know why this company is the way it is and they cant help me

The Xbox App is now the default application to install games for both Windows Store digital purchases and PC Game Pass titles. The application is only required to install games, it's not required to launch them, although you can if you wish.

I'm sorry you're having issues with apps from Microsoft. But, the issues you appear to be having are probably a result of something wrong with your Operating System install. I have three PCs. One self built gaming PC, a laptop and business laptop. I use Microsoft applications on all of these machines and they're all stable. Just because your apps are crashing, doesn't mean all PCs have the same problem.

If Microsoft Windows applications were crashing on all PCs it would be a pretty well known worldwide issue by now.

If your applications are crashing you'll need to investigate why this is the case on your PC. The Windows event viewer would be a recommended place to start.

Please try these steps:

1) Install the DLC directly from the Microsoft Store.

Open the Microsoft Store app.

Make sure you're signed in with the same account used to purchase the DLC.

Search for the specific Dead by Daylight DLC.

On the DLC’s page, it should say “Owned”, if so, click Install or Get.

2) Try a force license refresh.

Sign out of both the Xbox app and Microsoft Store.

Reboot your PC.

Sign back in to both apps with the same account.

Let me know if these worked.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, that fixed the issue for me! For several reasons, the Xbox account I use is different than the account used for the Microsoft Store app. I had no idea the Xbox beta standalone app would tie in to the Store for authentication. I don't
want to be forced to continually sign in/out with different accounts in the store app to make this work right. Hopefully, Microsoft will provide built in authentication and standalone capabilities to the Xbox app itself.

I don't know if this will help but it helped me. Basically the Xbox App pretty much never does what it's supposed too. I used the Microsoft Store app and it had no problem updating everything the Xbox app couldn't. If the store app doesn't work for you then good luck... The Xbox app is garbage in my opinion. I only use it because I'm pretty much forced too if I want to send a message.

You can try to subscribe through the website instead of the app.

Not sure about other regions, but for NZ, it forces you to install the app. However I was able to subscribe to it via Microsoft Store. The Xbox (Beta) app wouldn't even sign me in - it just doesn't do anything when I click on Sign In.
