    Microsoft store and Xbox companion wont let me sign in


    Hello, I recently changed my primary email on my microsoft account. When I changed it, it told me it could take up to 48 hours for changes to take effect. When I tried to then use xbox console companion on my laptop, it signed me out and wouldnt let me sign
    back in, giving me the error code '0x800704cf' after accepting my email and password. The same happened with microsoft store. I waited the 48 hours and I still receive this error code. I got someone else to sign into xbox console companion with their account
    and it worked, but when i tried to use my account again the error code popped up. My account works fine on xbox or microsoft related web browsers and the xbox phone app, it only doesnt work on laptop apps.

    I have tried reinstalling everything, resetting everything, signing in and out of everything, even looking up tutorials on youtube and resetting my networks, etc. I play my games on my laptop with the console companion by streaming to my xbox, which i havent
    been able to do for 4 days now.

    xbox app wont let me sign in

    thanks for the reply but its not letting me sign in on the Microsoft store, Xbox app and the companion app. when i press the sign in button on Microsoft store nothing happens and on the xbox app and companion app, i press sign in to xbox live and for a split second something try's to load but instantly closes itself. as i said I've tried repairing uninstalling but it still wont work.

    ive done all of these yet it still wont let me sign into either the xbox app or microsoft store, the sign in buttons do nothing, a window opens for about a millisecond then it closes again

    I am trying to sign in after changing my primary alias email.

    Sign in to the Microsoft Store and in the Xbox Console Companion app, check if you get the same error.

    Your Microsoft store account is different than your Xbox account

    Opening the Xbox Console Companion app fixed this for me, thank you. It would always prompt me to open the new Xbox app, which I'd do, and it'd display this problem. However, if I ignored it and continued into Xbox Console Companion, it prompted me to sign in there, which succeeded, and that removed the flashing window in XBox app and the repeated mix up of store account.

    Incidentally it was also the solution that let me then sign into Mincecraft on PC.

    Thank you so much for that, Andrew. Would it be okay if you install the Xbox Console Companion and sign in from there as well?

    Simply search "Xbox Console Companion" on Microsoft Store App.
