Microsoft Solitaire Collection Refusing to Start

The last week or so my Microsoft Solitaire Collection sometimes refused to start. The spinning cards in the circle of the opening page just kept spinning. When I've tried to close it by clicking the X, everything just froze. I had to use Task Manager to get the window to close. Then I'd open it again, and it would work.

Tonight it isn't working at all. I saw a suggestion to reset it, which I did. Still not working. So I uninstalled it, re-installed, and still not working. A problem with my laptop, or the game?

I don't play using X-box. Just the Collection, playing on my laptop, downloaded from the Store. I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

I just tried to download it again, which I do by searching and finding the app, and then uninstall, and then download. This time when I searched it didn't find the app. So I went to the Store, and when I went to the Solitaire Collection page, where it usually says "Install", it just said "Play". So I clicked on that, and it did the same thing, cards spinning, and nothing else happening. I had to use Task Manager to close it. Is there some chance there's another Collection sitting on my laptopm somewhere, and goofing things up? My search didn't find one, so things are getting more complicated, it seems.

Thanks so much! I've saved all of this in case something similar comes up! I appreciate the time you took to make this so detailed and understandable even for someone like me. I'm not nearly tech savvy enough to handle something like this without clearly understandable help!

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you are currently having problems with Microsoft Solitaire Collection. Sorry for the inconvenience.

As for your problem, you can try the following solutions to see if they can solve your problem:

1. Clear the Microsoft Store cache and log in to your Microsoft Store account again.

Open this PC > click View > Hidden Items > Delete files in

C:\Users\username\AppData\local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

2. I don't know what operation the reset you mentioned is, but you can reset the Microsoft Store cache.

Press the Windows + R to open the Run, type WSReset.exe. and then select OK.

Note: A blank command prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close and the Microsoft Store will open automatically.

3. Troubleshooting the Internet problem.

1) Adjust the DNS server.

Right-click on the "Network" icon in the taskbar, click the "Network and Internet" button > "Network and Sharing Center", select the name of the current Internet network and open the network status menu. Continue to click the "Properties" button, double-click the "Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" option, adjust the DNS server to Preferred DNS 4.2.2.1 and Alterative DNS 4.2.2.2, and click the "OK" button to save.

2) Type "Internet" in the search bar, open "Internet Options" > "Advanced" > Enable SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, TLS 1.2, TLS 1.3 these 5 options.

I am not using Microsoft Solitaire Premium.

In Microsoft Solitaire Collection there is.

"Settings" Apps & Features" choose Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Advanced Settings then Reset.
