  1. Microsoft should just kill halo.

I was not sure where to put this thread so I put it here.

Disclaimer I have been playing halo ever since ce up until now however I'm am not a purist unlike so many other old halo fans.

This topic has been on my mind for years as I believe that it is time for the halo franchise to rest.

We have had so many halo games (main and non main games) its a good franchise with a huge universe full of rich lore, good stories, and other things but it leaves no room for creativity and that is it's big flaw. I believe bungie realised that fact after
the backlash they got from reach. So many of the fans (not including me) got very upset at bungie because they added in things that changed the gameplay a bit. They started raging at bungie for that game and calling it the worst thing ever because it didn't
    play like 3...

Then when 343 made halo 4 they got an even bigger backlash from the community because it was completely different from halo 3. Fast forward to halo 5 and yet again its different from 3 and the purist are up in arms more than ever and its disgusting.

This is what I mean by halo's flaw being no creativity. If developers even try to be creative with it they'd accidentally cause an uproar.

343 is a talented company despite their flaws and mistakes. They can't use that talent on halo because it's community expect a halo 3.2 every game.

This is why I believe halo needs to die. It holds companies back far too much. It held bungie back and its holding 343 back and if another company was to take 343s place halo would hold that company back as well.

I believe xbox needs a new face, I believe 343 should make something new and unique, a new ip.

    :)

This didn't just kill this console, Microsoft just EXECUTED it. Sony should be watching this, if only to learn what NOT to do.

I agree and disagree with parts of your post, the series seems to have been constantly changing every game since Reach which is fine, you need to innovate to keep things fresh, but sometimes the changes just made it feel less of the game I originally feel
in love with, others have innovated in their games while keeping it feeling like the same core experience, I don't feel Halo has done this for a long time, but Halo 5 was definitely a step in the right direction in regards to gameplay.

I am one of these 'purists' who now despise the multiplayer mode because I just don't think they've gotten right since Halo 3, which I loved. I haven't played Halo 5's MP yet so I can't really comment on that, but if it's similar to single player experience,
again, it could be a step in the right direction.

What will really annoying me is if Halo 6 mechanics are again completely change, I have a feeling they won't do that though, they've got a good base line with Halo 5's gameplay and mechanics and they just need to build on that, some of the things they changed
from Halo 4 have been great and really make sense.

So I don't believe they should kill it, I haven't played a game that has the environments that Halo 5 have in a long time and overall I really enjoyed the campaign and where the story is heading and general consensus on this forum is that it's a good game.
Waypoint forums might be different, I don't know.

Meh Halo is about the only reason I am still playing Xbox right now. Been playing PC again for awhile. So far I'm really liking Halo 5. I think some people just expect to much from games these days. It has got pretty solid reviews from basically everywhere
    that matters.

I think Halo 5, the multi at least, is the best in a long time. I haven't been this hooked since Halo 2! I haven't played the campaign yet.

Agree, while I have yet to play Halo 5, if 343 continues to screw up the series, then yes Microsoft should just put Halo to rest for good. Maybe 343 should make a new FPS IP or a new action adventure IP or even better, a new RPG IP.

    Microsoft should just kill halo.

Microsoft should kill Halo? Lmao. I agree that they need some new IPs but killing Halo off because you don't like the new formula is laughable. I always felt Bungie was losing interest in the franchise because I personally disliked Halo: Reach overall. Halo
4 changed the formula for better and worse but it was 343i's first attempt, so I let it slide. They had to not only innovate and keep the series fresh but also add their own personal touch. I found the campaign to be less memorable overall but still enjoyed
it immensely and the multiplayer, while awkward at first, grew on me. Halo 5 definitely feels like 343i is getting a more focused view on how they want the Halo franchise to grow and personally I prefer it over Halo 4. The campaign is still hit or miss but
the multiplayer has been streamlined and plays superbly. It's definitely one of the best MP experiences on the Xbox One and the best Halo MP since Halo 3. As a die-hard Halo fan of course I miss the excellence of the Halo 2/3 MP and the amazing campaigns in
Halo: CE and Halo 3 but things change. Gotta learn to appreciate the new while looking back fondly on the old. Maybe the Halo franchise has lost it's charm for you but there's no reason to kill it off.

  9. Microsoft will never stop making Halo games. It's the top selling franchise for them and there's no way it would go away. There's always going to be a group of people who can't stand the new changes. Yet, there will always be people who will continue to
    love it.

I think Halo will be around for many years to come.

HALO, Assassin's Creed, Battlefield and COD and many others are suffering from the "same old crap every year" syndrome.

The new Tony Hawk game kind of bombed because they didn't do a good job.

But at least they left the franchise alone long enough to let us miss it and be glad to see it again.

Even medieval peasants who spent their lives slogging in dung and dirt had enough sense to leave a field to lie fallow for a season.

Halo doesn't spawn a new game every year compared to Asssasin's Creed & COD.

Battlefield also don't spawn a new game every year, I mean did we get a Battlefield game last year?

Technically you're right but you know what I mean.

After the Master Chief Collection HALO 5 rears it's head like a bad penny and the prospect of a new HALO brings with it about the same sense of anticipation and welcome as another series of "Big Brother".

  13. Microsoft should just kill halo.

The issue here is how people see this game. We want something new but want to it be like the old so change everything while leaving it all the same. We want a game that plays like halo 2 has everything that has but with everything done differently and better.

I saw it stated that people want a new IP. How are you going to take a new IP if these little changes are enough to drive you up the wall?

As a halo gamer myself my opinions on this game are mixed I want to love it but its far and way from what the Ad campaign made it out to be. Its story feel more like a lore book then a game. The multi player is lacking so badly. Feels like a game around
who has the best looking key word LOOKING gear.

But I have a love for the game itself and try my hardest in the hopes more is coming in the campaign and multiplayer. Because there is no way 3 years of work can equal out to such lackluster.

Who am I kidding at this current trend yeah halo is dying and 343 is the shepherd of its demise. Unless they do a lot more or add more to the story like halo 4s Spec ops mode its over.

  14. MEH.

343, just like Bungie is ****** if they do and ****** if they don't.

Go with 'classic' Halo style and upset those who want new, innovative and different.

Go with some new and different ideas and upset those who want the 'classic' feel.

Try to shoot down the middle and neither of ^these groups are happy.

Such are the cons of trying to keep a long running IP fresh. What makes the whole situation worse is that gamers have their own individual ideas of what the devs should do... and if the devs don't deliver exactly what is expected (by some), then somehow
    they've 'failed miserably'.

I find this mentality to be ridiculous. There are a lot of things I'm not too crazy about in Halo 5. But I'm not going to throw the fact that they still made a **** good game out the window because I didn't get exactly what I expected. I'm still playing
    it and having fun.

I have played all FPS Halo games that are released and I have liked all of them, changes has been good, and gives always a little bit different tactics for campaign!

But it doesn't what game series it is about, someone will always hate changes, or the fact that game didn't change enough! You can never please everyone!

But main thing is that they make money with Halo, so why on Earth they would kill a game series that gives good money for company and enjoyment for people who likes new Halos?
